  1. What the HELL is this?! http://images.comicbookresources.com/litg/...teweeweeetc.jpg
  2. Batteries have nothing to do with it. Why is it there if the Dalek can already do it? Looks cool, but, serves only a redundant function. From what I've read of the finale... I'm not entirely sure I can buy a lot of where Davies is taking the ideas. I admit, I've warmed up more to the concept of the Dalek Emperor as a god unto itself than when I first saw The Parting Of The Ways. I didn't like it at first, I freely admit. But, subsequent viewings have changed that initial opinion. But, this Cult Of Skaro thing... granted, I've not seen the story yet, so, I have to reserve judgment. Didn't we already see Daleks with names in Evil Of The Daleks, though? And, seems to me Davies using the name Genesis Ark is another red herring like the rumors of Davros appearing as either the Emperor or Bad Wolf last year. Oh, and, if Rose absorbed the heart of the TARDIS at one point as she did, surely, she would have seen her own future , right, and try to prevent it?
  3. I was just now thinking of the new Dalek ability to rotate the center section independently of the head and the base, as seen in the episode Dalek. Why? It seems to me something that looks cool, but, has no useful function BECAUSE a Dalek could do this already. Its head could look in one direction while its base was facing the other. Also, ever wonder what those globes are for? According to the Doctor Who Technical Manual, they detect things like temperature, infrared heat signatures, and MOVEMENT. If all of that is so... how come nearly all Dalek stories feature someone simply hiding from a Dalek gliding by by merely hiding in a corner?
  4. Actually, I have to give some credit to Disney's adaptation of that film from about 10 years ago. I can't really say it's a great movie, but, damn, credit where it's due for trying something different with a standard, sacchrine Disney movie. The idea of casting the Catholic church, through Frolo, as the villain, and the fact that the hero doesn't get the girl at the end was a refreshing change of pace. And, yes, while they did throw out the original themes almost entirely because you can't go teaching the kiddies that if you're ugly, you won't get anywhere in life at least, they did tackle the themes of isolation and xenophobia.
  5. Frank Miller wrote Robocop 2 and 3 and Sin City. Now, in his defense, R2 and 3 were hacked to bits (In fact, they both came from the same script.) BUT I've read his original and, R2 is actually BETTER! Simon Furman wrote the Transformers comics for the UK and wrote the better stories towards the end of its US run. And, what I want from a movie? I'll start off with some simple thing like characters with believable motivations, not just stirred on by a plot or character trait. Actions that matter, i.e. that have SOME kind of consequence and don't just roll along to lead into the next explosion, etc. Maybe, just once, a BELIEVABLE romance! I get tired of the same dreck where the guy gets the girl at the end just because he's the handsome lead. THE END.
  6. Oh, I WISH more comics writers wrote movies. But, the only ones who really do are overrated like Frank Miller. Like Simon Furman would ever be allowed to write the Transformers movie coming out next year.
  7. Wow... who would have thought such a dumb movie like Dead Man's Chest would blow away so many box office records? But, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest did the following over the weekend: 1.) made $132 million 2.) broke the record for a three-day weekend set in 2002 3.) broke the record for a four-day weekend set just recently by X-Men: The Last Stand 4.) broke the record for the biggest single day gross in box-office history 5.) broke the record for the biggest two day gross 6.) became the fastest film ever to cross $100 million gross 7.) broke the record for per theater average (factoring in gross per theater versus the number it played in and the number of screens per theater, which greatly helped it, since it was the fourth widest release, per theater, in history.) Because of this, the US box office itself a new record: $217 million, beating 2004's with a Harry Potter film. Online ticket sellers also set records because people wanted to avoid sold out theaters. And, with Cars passing the $200 million mark without anyone hardly noticing... why is it that dumb films always set the records? Now, I am lumping some films I saw and liked under the "dumb" banner, so, by "dumb" I mean, basically, films that don't really deserve the accolades they get. For instance, Spider-Man held the previous 3 day weekend record that was broken. Yet, Spider-Man 2 was the FAR better picture but didn't set any records. As for Pirates, I've not seen either of them, and, don't want to. But a former friend now a blithering idiot thinks these are the best movies ever made. So, they must be crap, simply because I say so. QED.
  8. No, it was even worse. eBay actually has some kind of chain of command. This was through Diamond Distribution, where they don't give a damn once they've got the money in their hand.
  9. Ah, turns out to be an error at the pressing plant. They added some last minute surprise content, but, the pressing company's software apparently defaults to Mac only format for the discs.
  10. Yeah, this situation was kind of odd. DVDInfo returned a disc size on the DVD, so, I figured there was data on it and used DVDI's ISO creation function to dump the disc to an ISO. Because it did read it, that made me think there may be actual data on it.
  11. UltraISO shows there are folders and files there. And, the test files extracted and viewed okay. So, I'll just extract and burn a new disc. Thanks!
  12. Didn't think about that. Will UltraISO do? To load the image and see if there are files or folders? Or something particularly in ISO Buster to view something in the image?
  13. Have a weird situation. Was wondering if anyone could provide some possible insight. But, I believe, I'll have to get a replacement disc. I bought a comic book collection that was recently released on two data DVD-ROM's. It was a 2 disc set, where Disc 1 is fine. I even ran an image read on it. But, Disc 2 is the nutter. Windows returns it is blank! So, I decided to dig into it a bit and eventually loaded DVDInfo to have a look. Media Information Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO Media code/Manufacturer ID N/A Pressed DVD Format Capacity 3.04GB(3.26GB) Book Type DVD-ROM Media Type DVD-ROM Data area starting sector 30000h Data area end sector 1852E0h Linear Density 0.267um/bit Track Density 0.74um/track Number of Layers 1 Basically, all it's returning is the disc format size, that it's a pressed DVD-ROM, AND a Data area starting and end sector? So, I created an ISO from it. The read was too quick for my taste so I figured something was up. However, the size of the file was roughly on par with the listed format above. Over 3 GB. So, I mounted the image to see if there was data on it, but, Windows returned it was a "Blank CD" on the virtual drive! So, what could possibly be up here? Is there actual data on the disc and there isn't a table of contents? Or what? The ISO read part is what gets me. Granted, I'm not an expert in this field but if it's reading something to the ISO and the ISO is in the 3 GB range, that would seem that there is data on the disc that I just can't get access to. So, is there a way to get to it? Suggestion box is open.
  14. Thanks to a certain, friendly magic dragon! Speaking of Genesis, received my R1 DVD on Saturday. (2008 will mark the 20th anniversary of when I first saw it on PBS. ) Ah, there is a reason why it is considered the greatest Doctor Who serial of all time! It still holds up today. And, to have Tom Baker finally on a commentary... sweet!
  15. So, the Daleks and the Cybermen did appear in the same episode, July 1st?
  16. 24DD?! Wow...
  17. Saw some wider exposure for the 9th Doctor season on American TV last night. Was rather surprised to be a Best Buy ad for the July 4th R1 DVD boxed set release on a station other than the Sci-Fi Channel! I think it was on FX.
  18. I looked at that earlier, theres a preveiw on the beeb's site if you havent seen it already. Only short, but looks good. Click here. Cool! I don't recall seeing a preview link when I first saw this post, which is where I learned of it.
  19. Wouldn't be the first time it happened on Doctor who, either. The Brigadier died back in the Dalek Master Plan, to name but one.
  20. Strange, I received e-mail notifications from two different e-mail addreses on this subject. The normal forum@imgburn.com and also from forum@imgburn.com.uk-forums.net
  21. any word on how Faith and Hope are doing Hope had turned into Hore last I had Herd. As for Faith, I think she also teamed up with Charity for a country folk duo.
  22. Speaking of Invasion, I can't believe the BBC is actually using one of MY ideas! Supposedly, in November, original series story, The Invasion, is going to be released on DVD. And that the two missing episodes will have Cosgrove-Hall (Danger Mouse, Count Duckula) animation synched to the surviving off-air recordings to replicate the missing episodes.
  23. Agyeman vs. Cybermen?
  24. whose Charity his mistress or a stripper at the local titty bar,his favorite hooker ,do you have any pics Speaking of which Charity always means something different to each individual. For Charity was remembered, as she was by all the other boys in my 5th grade class, as the only gal who had developed boobs by then.
  25. Written by Stan Beer... PERFECT! ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
