  1. Hello everyone,

The first time I run ImgBurn after a reboot, it is able to lock the drive without issue and burn the iso. The second time I run ImgBurn and attempt to burn an ISO, I get the "Unable to lock drive - access denied" error.

I don't think it is another program accessing the drive, since I am always able to lock the drive with ImgBurn the first time it is run. I have reproduced now with every reboot, so it is something I need to deal with.

Any ideas on what may be causing this odd behavior? It can always lock the first time, but every time I try after that, I get the unable to lock error.

I have unchecked the check box for this check, so I am able to burn successfully, but I am curious why this is and how to protect my drive while burning.

    Cheers,

    Tom

You are not simply opening a second instance of ImgBurn are you? If so, the first instance has got the drive locked.

  2. We are talking about different things. I probably used the wrong terminology. By "full system restore" I do not mean the "going back in time restore". My system did not come with any CDs. Somehow they have secreted the operating software to an untouchable spot on the hard drive. When they do the "full systme restore" everything currently on the hard drive is erased save for this originating spot on the hard drive which contains the software the computer was delivered with. Once done all is new. A new beginning.

Doing what you did is the same as using a rescue disc, it's just sitting on the HDD, I think HP and Compaq are big on this.

  3. ImgBurn will burn whatever is in the image, usually the stripping of country codes is done by rippers (zone free) ImgBurn is not a ripper, so, if you have the files on your HDD, there is a good chance that it IS zone free.

That's about as far as we can go about rippers in this forum.

  4. I would like to see the footage that they say he was caught, the entire time, on camera, from attack to pulling out the barb, until he died. I don't want to appear or morbid, but, if his wife chooses to release the footage and stations choose to show it, I am curious as to the events that transpired. Because, even if we do see it, there may simply be no answer. Freak accidents just happen. Normally docile things can get pissed for no reason. Things can get afraid for no reason, too. It may have been an accident, too. That Irwin misinterpreted the action and, as a result, caused it to attack while trying to defend from what he thought was an attack.

In the end, I think there can never be an answer because there's no way we can know what was in Irwin's mind or in the "thinking" of the ray in that instant, either.

I agree, at the end of the day his time was up, although I firmly believe his lack of expertise with these animals (stingrays) brought him undone.

    Very sad.

  5. I'm not voicing an opinion here, just looking to see what my cousins Down Under think of giving Steve a state funeral? (Since I'm not an Australian I don't think I have a right to an opinion.)

Here in the US, the state funeral for Reagan was the first one I remember. I can't tell you who got the last one before he did. But I believe it had been over a decade.

And the last president to get one was Kennedy.

So, did "the Crocodile Hunter" do enough for Australia to have earned the honor?

In my opinion, he did, you gotta remember this was no actor (like Paul Hogan) he was the real deal.

He really put Australian tourism on the international market, not to mention his generosity with the money he made to many worth while projects and charities.

Like I mentioned before, I didn't agree with some of the things he did (mainly for his own safety) and setting an example for dickheads that would go out and try it, but I suppose when you're in front of a camera the fuckers do want you to do stupid things.

Again in my opinion, he went beyond his field of expertise, he could read the body language of a croc like a book, he was also very good with snakes, but I somehow don't think under water stuff was his bag, a valuable lesson for all, stick with what you know best, in this very unfortunate case it cost Steve his life.

While you're at it you might want to check your DMA settings, you'll find a fix for this in the FAQ section.

  7. Very sad, with 2 young children and all, he was an icon, I never really agread with some of the things he did, he really went overboard for the cameras, I allways thought that a croc would get him sooner or later but a stingray never entered my mind, you really have to be stiff for that to happen, I don't think I ever recall anyone bieng killed by a stingray, he will be missed.

  8. I don't understand where all this animosity comes from, but then I don't have to live in Australia. I guess you all have chips on your shoulders down there (maybe originating from a lack of identity). Are you an IP lawyer by the way ? I thought not.

Jesus Def, what on earth would make you say something like this?

In case you didn't realize at the time, let me point out to you that this is very offensive stuff, I thought you were better than that.

    I'm speechless.

Help, I only have 4 blanks left!!

Any ideas of things to try to get this to work? Thanks.

Yep, as corny said, your image size is not the problem at all, there is plenty of room on the media as I've highlighted.

  10. Nevertheless, if the verification fails the media is useless. A better dialog would help people to understand that. ;-)

Not quite so, a disc that fails to read in one drive can read very well in another, it depends on how picky your drive is, your point is well valid though.
