Shamus_McFartfinger Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 That makes 2 of us. Google turned this up. http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=DAA
random_HALT Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 Yah it's a PowerISO img, but PowerISO sucks some big balls.
duanedietz Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 daa files seem to be a compressed iso file. If you get power iso and a daa file if you decompress the daa. file with power iso it creates a iso file. This type of file it seems is only created with power iso. duane
volvofl10 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 why not simply burn the EXtracted DAA file with ImgBurn , after all , as you state, ultraiso is the compressor/decompressor for these files ImgBurn is a burning program , not a extraction prog like winrar, winzip, ultraiso. what would you want ImgBurn to actually do ?, extract then burn the iso ?
random_HALT Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 I want it to burn the .daa file like any other iso image. When you extract a .daa file it doesn't make a .iso file, it extracts all the files in it to its respective folder.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 If it as an ISO image it would already work. You're just missing what's going on in the background.
Nano Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 PowerIso can easly convert an .daa into an .iso. Even PowerIso converts the .daa to .iso before burning. This means that .daa file cannot be directly burned but a conversion must be done first.
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I'm still wondering why they need to create a proprietary format (*.daa) instead of using a standard ISO. I must be missing something.
Nano Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 DAA is a format for an image file, which supports some advanced features, such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes (similar to .RAR and other compression formats). An archive.daa of 649MB become an archive.iso of 700MB. 50MB make a discrete difference when you have to upload/download it, this is why its widely used in peer-to-peer or torrents network.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 lol well I've still never seen a DAA file! Nobody in their right mind would use something that only one program can open. Geez, some people have enough trouble burning an ISO!
Defenestration Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 UltraISO has a similar format called ISZ (ie. ISO Zipped), but only UltraISO can read it.
Bulldog_466 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 PowerISO will decompress a DAA file to ISO or BIN, click on TOOLS->DECOMPRESS then select ISO or BIN.
MentholMoose Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) PowerISO will decompress a DAA file to ISO or BIN, click on TOOLS->DECOMPRESS then select ISO or BIN. It's "Tools | Convert..." with the latest version. Edited December 24, 2009 by MentholMoose
