Katrel Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) ImgBurn was working well for me, there was an iso that wouldn't work for some odd reason so I tried using the default windows burner that's built into windows 7. Now my dvd burner fails to recognize blank dual layer dvds and I'm pretty sure it's because of the default windows burner that messed with the settings. I tried uninstalling my dvd drive, looking for driver updates, and going to the sony optiarc website to install a new driver. Nothing has worked and now I'm unable to burn to dual layer dvds, any idea at how I can get it to recognize blank dual layer media again? When I open ImgBurn to verify disc it says "Device Not Ready (Incompatible Medium Installed) Thanks, Dennis EDIT Actually, after some testing i discovered the entire drive is shot. Didn't think that'd be the case after only having it for a month, but yeah... Haha. So yeah, thanks for your help all, but it doesn't even read pressed dvds/cds. Trying to return it. mmalves Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Does it say that for the burned disc or a blank disc? Also what's the model and firmware version of your burner?

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Can it still see original (pressed) DVD's ok? How about CD's? Have you tried DVD-R and DVD+R (single layer) ? Do they work?

dbminter Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Oh, dear. I just got one of these drives. I had a Sony DRU-700a that went tits up after a month. Then, many months later, when I put it in again to test it, it was working. Go figure.
