New LG BD-R Burner BH10LS30 Device buffer always at 0%

I have a new LG BH10LS30 BD Burner. The Device buffer is always at 0%, never rises. Tried it on multiple machines with ImgBurn, same result. Honestly it seems like the Buffer RAM is malfunctioning. is this possible? Never seen this before. I've tried re-flashing to see if that helps, no good. I'm about to take it back for a replacement, just wanted to see if anyone had seen something like this before. Thanks.

The device buffer is always 0% when you're burning? Which speed were you burning? How about the main buffer, does it stay at 100% all the time?

Main buffer is at 100% unless burning over the network, then it varies a little bit.

Yes, device buffer is always at 0% while burning at any speed, 4x, 8x, 16x. the burn finishes ok, it's just freaking me out a bit to see device buffer 0%. It never rises at all above 0%. Seems like there isn't a buffer at all. I've tried it through internal SATA cables and an external USB adapter. Also on 3 different pc's. same result. strangest thing i've ever seen.

I've been using L-Uk's software since DVDD, so it's not a user issue ;)

Please post the log and the IBG graph file from one of those burns. You can find shortcuts to both of them in ImgBurn's Help menu.

here you go. This was a burn over the network at 8x to a DVD+R. USB/SATA adapter on this burn. Device buffer at 0% the entire time. same result directly connected to MB SATA connectors. It finished OK, had one small hiccup during the burn but recovered.

I'm going to be exchanging the drive tonight with another. I'll let you know how that one works out.

thanks,

I exchanged the drive for a new one. I'm still getting the same behavior. Strange, could ImgBurn be sending back incorrect info about this drive? Does anyone else have this drive?

I decided to risk one of my precious Verbatim BD-R's. Guess what, with BD-R media the device buffer fills to 95% and pretty much stays there for the entire burn.

So as far as I can see. With DVD media, device buffer is at 0%, BD-R media device buffer is normal. Weird!! Anyone care to explain? Thanks,

Firmware bug I guess.

ImgBurn gets the buffer info from a single command which is the same for every drive. As it works fine on all the drives I've ever used (and it's not something I have any reason to mess with), the problem must be with the LG drive.

Agreed, as i've never once had an issue with your incredible software L-UK, I too would point the finger at LG. It seems to burn with no problems, so i'll stop worrying about it. ;)
