660207 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Hello, is it possible to delete all data from a CD/DVD without creating a new disk?
Cynthia Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Yes if it's a re rewritable disc. Write Mode -> Tools -> Device -> Erase disc
660207 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Tried to erase a DVD+RW. I've chosen quick erase but ImgBurn says, it has to do a full erase first before I can do a quick one (hm, don't know the sense of doing a quick after a full erase). Nero does this in seconds - quick erase was no problem
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 ImgBurn defaults to formatting discs properly, Nero doesn't. Just look at the 'Formatted' status in the Disc Info panel on the right.
660207 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 (edited) Hi, problem with erase a DVD+RW. Data was recorded with a LG VHS/DVD recorder. It works with Nero - all other free Apps fails. Maybe this helps?! LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 As you can see... Formatted: No (Started) ... that disc hasn't been formatted properly. It's only when you format properly that you detect errors *anywhere* on the disc... and your drive detects one when you format with ImgBurn (because it does it properly) Simply not checking for or being told about an error (a.k.a. Nero style) does not mean it worked! Buy some better DVD+RW discs - i.e. Verbatim ones. You should also update the firmware on your drive - http://www.firmwarehq.com/Sony/DW-G121A/files.html
660207 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 I have this problem just with that LG equipment. DVDs I recorded with it work fine in every DVD-player, but I just can delete those DVDs LG recorder or Nero. So, it can't be a problem with the DVDs, because they are alright, with all other recorded stuff (without LG).
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Oh ok, you probably know best. Remind me, why am I here again?!
