Sudden incompatability or just one bad ??

Hello all , thanks for this forum and for ImgBurn

 

I have used Imation DVD+R DL(10 DVDS with success) and then tried Memorex (made in Taiwan) had many problems with so I found Verbatim MKM-003-00 (made in India) (10 successful DVDs) ,then went back to Imation (more expensive than Verbatim here) and the second DVD gave me this:

My questions:

 

1- Is it media thing again after past success ? (my driver is up to date)

 

2-I had 2 good DVDs with Memorex before it started giving errors for all, can I do something to reset the drive before trying another imation ? it seems drives tend to stop working once one disc fails, like it locks on that error, don't know if anybody feels the same.

 

3- Can I use the same disc again for another try since the error is in very first sectors ? OR for storing files maybe ? how can I skip that sector range in that case?

 

4- I haven't updated to ImgBurn latest version, could this fix it ?

1. 2.5.1.0 caused NOD32 to use 100% CPU , I tried to install with different settings and restarted many times and reinstalled many times but not working

why ? it's a known issue and you contacted them about it in the last 3 hours? what do you mean? definitions are for viruses, I didn't get any virus or so alert, just high CPU usage while ImgBurn is running.

Sorry, I assumed you meant you'd tried it when it was released a few weeks ago and it didn't play nicely.

 

AV programs have issues with the UPX compression used on the exe (decompress it and it'll probably work fine). That's typically what causes them to mess up and they usually fix the problem by means of updated definitions.

Can I retry the same disc again ? If not, is it wasted for archiving too ? for demos for example?

No, you can decompress it using the same UPX tool I used to compress it.

Try burning at 6x or 8x. Try a lens cleaning disc on that burner. If all that doesn't solve your problem then it's time for a new burner.

2.Isn't there a chance the the image is the problem ?

 

I don't want to go buy new burner to find out it is was for nothing, I have no problem buying new one, its already costing me , but I just would like to know what is happening

Try cleaning the burner with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to dissect it , and also try burning at 6x and 8x.

I will give it another try on 6X or 8X with different Image after cleaning it , if it fails I will go find a new burner

I forgot to mention how I fixed the CPU load in ESET NOD32

 

Go to Advanced setup >> real time system scan >> setup >> Objects >> untick "Runtime packers" , and its off by default anyway
