ISO vs. BIN

I tried looking this up in the forum, but unfortunately, neither "bin" nor "iso" can be searched (a question for another forum topic). I did learn that an audio CD can't be made into an ISO image. However, I've been creating ISO images from video dvds, and now (sometimes) Yoda tells me that an ISO image can't be made from some disc, and he is going to make a BIN file no matter what I say, and that these aren't the droids I'm looking for.

 

I guess, really, I just don't know what the difference is. And maybe there is none and I should worry about global warming instead. But, if it can be explained to simpletons: Why can some video dvds be made into ISO, and some not--even though they're produced by the same video recorder--and is there any way I can influence that decision, or would I ever want/need to?

DVD Video normaly goes to ISO but if it is recorded in some DVD Recorders and are multisessions on it, than it will go to a BIN file.

The 'Google Custom Search' works for the 3 letter words (that's partly why I added it).

 

If you ever come across a DVD that goes to BIN format (i.e. a multisession one), don't use 'Read' mode.

 

Go into 'Build' mode, add the drive letter of that drive to the 'Source' box and make a new ISO that way.

I can't believe I never thought about using Build mode for this problem! I have a stand alone Panasonic DVD recorder that creates DVD's in multisession and had been using DVDShrink with no compression to copy them to non BIN images.
