kickaha Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I've burnt a defective media that failed (I was giving TDK a try, usually I use Verbatim). The strange thing is imgburn allowed me to burn it again "superimposing" the track: that's my guess, looking at the disc I can tell apart the internal ring written once from the external written twice (maybe this evening I'll post a picture). Is this the expected behaviour? I didn't close track/session/disc and didn't open/close the drive tray between the burns. After the second burn (failed a little further) I manually closed track/session/disc, ejected/loaded the disc and correctly imgburn refused to burn it a third time (I wouldn't have done it!). The log follows (image build, first burn, second burn): ; ; ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.4.0 - Log ; martedì, 11 gennaio 2011, 23.06.46 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 22:34:56 ImgBurn Version 2.5.4.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 If the drive reports it as blank, there's probably little I can do about it. There's only so much I can do. For the rest you just have to use your common sense.
kickaha Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) I will pay much attention next time, but I'm almost sure it reported the first session (not closed) and not a blank disc. If it happens again I'll give you more details. Edited January 14, 2011 by kickaha
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 The disc info is what I need really, not logs. Some drives don't report actual blank discs as blank, so there are a few loopholes whereby the program will let you burn if certain other criteria are met. Again, not much I can do about it. I could block everything except discs reported as blank, but that would mean some drives can no longer be used by the program - and that's not something I'm willing to do.
