It's not just with ImgBurn that I can't erase a disc, but with windows 7's "erase disk" option and nero also. Pretty much, everything I have tried did not work.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 This is probably due to the controller responsible for the port you've connected the drive to. Any idea which chipset the controller uses? Try installing the latest drivers for it.
Daemian Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 I'm using an Acer Aspire 5742G laptop and the DVD ROM seems to be PIONEER. But I don't really know how to find out what chipset the controller uses. How do I do that? Oh, and on acer.com there are no drivers for the DVD ROM and when I update the driver it says that the device is up to date. If you need more info please ask, cause I really want to solve this extremely frustrating problem. Thanks
ianymaty Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Install Chipset Driver than SATA/AHCI Driver from here http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=3278 On the Acer's site Chipset Driver is not the latest that Intel have here http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19596&lang=eng Reboot and try again.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 This AHCI/RAID driver (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) is newer than the one on Acer's site. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2101&DwnldID=19607&lang=eng&iid=dc_rss
Daemian Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 Yes, that seemed to be the problem. Thanks a lot for your help!
