I have cut out some of the log because I burned about 10 or 15 discs successfully before this one. The discs are Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB 16x and my drive is LG GH22NS50.

After it gave me the message I just clicked continue.

Is it just a bad disc? I was running IMGburn for a few hours, could that be the problem, maybe a memory leak or something?

After the verify stage it said 'Operation successfully completed', does that mean the burn went okay?

Thanks

I got the 'Program memory area update failure' message and I am just trying to understand what went wrong. Bad disc? Bad drive? Burnt too fast/slow?

It could be any or none of those.

If you'd burnt several other discs before that one without a problem, it was probably just a bad disc.

Of course it could also be related to temperature - the drive getting too hot.

I was running IMGburn for a few hours, could that be the problem, maybe a memory leak or something?

It wasn't a software issue, it was a hardware issue.

After the verify stage it said 'Operation successfully completed', does that mean the burn went okay?

It's physically readable in that drive... that doesn't mean it'll work everywhere.

Failures at the point of closing the disc sometimes means other drives won't be able to initialise the disc (read it properly).

Im looking back over the logs from the past few days and I realise this is happening more often than I thought.

Most of the time it doesnt give the error pop-up dialogue, it just retries and it seems to work after the first retry. Does that mean in this cases (where the error box doesnt pop up) everything is okay?

I have a new drive coming next week so I wont burn any more discs til it comes.

Although what I am burning is RAR files split across two discs and when I extracted with WinRAR it didn't give any errors so I think all the data is there on the disc.

Thanks for the advice.
