computerlove Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I have just installed a new LG BH12LS38 blu-ray writer to replace my old one. When burning a blu-ray disc using the new drive, the programme buffer reaches 100% but the device buffer only reaches 50%. Will it be a hardware or software problem?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 It's not a 'problem' so to speak, it's just what the new LG drives seem to do.
computerlove Posted March 25, 2012 Author Posted March 25, 2012 It's not a 'problem' so to speak, it's just what the new LG drives seem to do. Can you elaborate more on your answer 'new LG drives seem to do'?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 It's just how new LG drives report the buffer level during a burn. I don't know why they've started to do it (just report 50% rather than 100%) but they have - my BH12LS38 does exactly the same. If you require a more detailed answer, you'd have to contact LG and ask them why the drive behaves like that. It's a hardware thing, not a software thing. Maybe it's a bug in the firmware or maybe they've done it on purpose.
computerlove Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Thanks for the advice. I just discovered that the buffer level reaches 100% when buying DVD despite a red rectangle still appears at the right side of the percentage bar.
mmalves Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 That's the Stop button, for when you want to cancel the operation.
