pleasedelete Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 (edited) For some reason i can only seem to burn files under a certain size, if they are large files i.e. multiple GB then i get a I/O Error(log file below). I have updated my firmware and attempted multiple optical discs and get the same results. Just in case its relevant i can burrrn audio Cd's using burrrn and read from discs just fine. Any suggestions? Thanks. I 19:32:36 ImgBurn Version 2.0.0.0 started!I 19:32:36 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 19:32:36 Initialising SPTI... It only failed in the verify stage, (first log) you're trying to fit an image to large for what's available on the media, try a full format on the RW then burn again.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 The only way file size is related to this issue is that you're burning nearer to the outer edge of the disc - and therefore more likely to get errors. If you really get that same 'Illegal Mode For This Track' on every disc you try (AND they're different dye types), your drive has probably had it.

Kenadjian i did as you suggested and it worked, i still do get the same error every now and then tho. Could be this down to **** media? Edited September 24, 2006 by englishmen
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Most errors (99%) are due to drive/firmware/media issues. Good discs give good / reliable burns. Bad discs give many coasters.
pleasedelete Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Thanks LIGHTNING UK!, have you or anybody else have any suggestions to what is the best drive and or accompanying media? Thanks.
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Best drive? Honestly, most work pretty well. Best media would be Taiyo Yuden for DVD5 and Verbatim +R for DVD9.
