FeelTheBurnAhhh! Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I have a very annoying and perplexing problem. After successfully burning a data files BD-R (Falcon SmartBlu 10X) at 10X the Verify that immediately followed was at 2X-3X. But the burned discs normally read at 12X. If I take the burned disc out and put in a new blank from the same batch, it correctly shows 12X read speed for the blank disc. But this burned disc shows as 2X-3X read speed. Is this a bug in Imgburn? Do I have something set wrong? Is this a bug in the Pioneer BDR-208D firmware? Help anyone? TIA. LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Pioneer drives have a 'quiet drive' feature that adjusts the read speed to keep the drive quiet. You may find a tool to disable it if you're lucky - the next version of ImgBurn has that functionality built in (but it hasn't been tested on a '20xD' drive, just the more feature rich '20xM' versions. btw, there's a 1.40 firmware update available for your drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Pioneer/BDR-208D/files.html

This might explain something I noticed with my Pioneer. I've never had a Pioneer before but it does seem a little slower at Verifying than other drives I've had. I might see if this new ImgBurn feature turns off this Quiet Drive in my drive if it's something that is actually there.
FeelTheBurnAhhh! Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) LIGHTNING UK! thank you for your reply. If I put the burned disc back into the drive and choose a function in Imgburn like Create An Image From Disc, I see this in the profile window... Could the Quiet Drive feature do this??? Edited June 2, 2014 by FeelTheBurnAhhh!
FeelTheBurnAhhh! Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 I have tried several of the versions of the Quiet Drive Utility from the Pioneer website. They all say Target Not Found. They seem to be only for the 220x drives, not for the 20x drives. I guess the firmware is my only other recourse.
FeelTheBurnAhhh! Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 I flashed the firmware. Then I tried the same disc again, (but on my Windows XP hard disk). dbminter Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I tried 1.06 of the Quiet Drive utility and it doesn't work for my drive either. So, I'm guessing ImgBurn's implementation won't either. But, I'll try to remember to try it.
