LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 4, 2014 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Because that's what you're sending the data to. Drives can accept as much data as will fit in their cache/internal buffer. That data then sits there waiting to be written to the disc. The sync cache command tells the drive there isn't going to be any more data and that it should burn everything left in the buffer and do whatever else it needs to do before then saying it's ready for the next step in burning a disc.
