Burning a BD-R data disc

I tried to burn BD-R data discs and was informed by the program that I needed to be on UDF as the file size was over 4GB, I changed it to UDF rev. 2.6 and successfully burned 5 discs with no problems. I shut the computer down for the night restarted in the morning and tried to burn another data disc, on completion I went to my computer icon but did not see the name specified by UDF clicked on the drive and the window that opened up with the message "Drag files to this folder to add them to the disc" I dragged the file to the window and when I tried to burn it failed. I then tried to use a BD-RE disc with the same results, I then uninstalled the software and downloaded a fresh copy with the same results. I then used a smaller test file as per log with the same results. I have done nothing different from the previous day yet I have tried 8 times with the same result.

It burnt and verified ok, so I can't see there being a problem with it really. Maybe the OS just hasn't noticed the contents of the disc have changed. Eject it, reboot and insert it again.

Yeah, I'd first try to restart Windows to see if it shows up.  If it doesn't show up with the disc ejected while Windows starts, try inserting the disc, powering off the PC, and restarting Windows with the disc inserted.  I know sometimes, my Windows won't recognize flash drives inserted until Windows restarts with the flash drive inserted.  Particularly with the Recovery Drive application.

 

 

If it still doesn't recognize, were the discs you previously burnt successfully CMC's or other Disc ID?  Sometimes cheaper CMC media isn't recognized as containing anything even though it burned correctly.  I know many DVD players that don't recognize them even though Windows does.  Of course, that is the exactly opposite case of what you're experiencing now.

 

 

I'd also stick with the BD-RE's to test with so you don't use any BD-R's.  You can always run multiple tests on those.
