StillLaughing Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Hello, I burnt a few discs fine last week, but now when I try the burning never moves onto the completed part, it just stays on 100% buffer. My disc drive also sound very loud when this happens. I have tried lowest write speed and supported ones yet this problem still persists, I am using Phillips CD-R's. Please help
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Being on 100% buffer isn't an issue. If it doesn't appear to be doing much (the status bar at the bottom of the main window tells you what's going on), you've probably got hardware (drive/media combo) issues. Next time it gets stuck, make note of the status bar message and put it in a reply here on the forum along with the log. Just copy + paste everything from the Log window please.

"Power calibration error" it then retries 20 times but still displays the same error and fails in the end
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Ok, so your drive doesn't like the media you're using then. Or it's broken / needs cleaning.
dbminter Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I believe, last time I checked, Philips DVD-R's sold at Dollar Tree and Big Lots were CMC Magnetics. So, Philips CD-R's are probably CMC's, too. Meaning your drive may not like them because they are cheap media. Without the log there's no way of telling who made your CD-R. I'm pretty sure Philips themselves didn't make them.
