preguntonontrack Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Hello, i have used img burn for more than a year and i love it. I remember installing the adware that comes during the installation process of imgburn. Now i want to uninstall only the adware but i cant seem to find it...
dbminter Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Unfortunately, there's little way to tell what you installed. ImgBurn does not come with any extra software on its own. It's bundled with things you can choose to install or not install at installation time. However, whatever you're offered generally changes each time the installation is run. Or you got an installer from a mirror that might have included who knows what wrapped around it.
preguntonontrack Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Ohh what a let down I installed it to support imgburn now i think ill reformat the pc.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I’m sure malwarebytes anti-malware will clear out most things.
preguntonontrack Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Yeah ill scan everything and ill format it anyway. One thing, i redownloaded imgburn to check it out before installing it after a clean format and you guys should seriously make it easier to avoid adding adware. This time it only had a confusing next button. I understand adware is how you get profit but atleast make it more easier if someone dont want to install it, something like a checkmark to install it or accept or decline button.
dbminter Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Nothing should get installed unless people get click happy. There should always be a "cancel" function of some kind of all bloatware added the wrapper. However, a sure fire way to avoid installing anything is to disconnect your Internet connection before running the ImgBurn installer. That way, the wrapper can't phone home for anything and won't have anything to install.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I have no control over the ad page you see, it's designed and inserted by them and their plugin.
