I've just started having this problem very recently: I burn and verify a DVD on quality media (Verbatim MCC-003-00), but when I put it pack into my computer, it says that the disc is blank. However, I just watched one of them that contained video last night in my set-top player and didn't have any problems. Why would my set-top player work better than my computer's drive? How can I tell if the problem is with my drive, the media, ImgBurn, or something else?

It seems the problem is related with your Read feature of the ROM drive. Are you using the same drive to burn and watch?

Can you post the log of one of these troubled burns here? It should be available at Application Data folder.

It looks like you hit the nail on the head. I tried three of the "broken" discs in a buddy's computer, and all of them worked fine. Any idea what I can do about that short of replacing the drive? If it was a desktop, even that wouldn't be a big deal, but it's more of a pain since the drive is in a laptop.

If it burns and verifies in the laptop, the laptop drive MUST be able to read it ok - is ImgBurn set to eject the tray between burn / verify? (If not, what I've just said may not apply!)

Or perhaps when you say you burn + verify and then 'put it back into my computer', you're actually talking about a different computer?

I thought the same thing, which makes it all the more confusing. I think the drive must be going bad because the last three burns I've tried have made it at most 10% in and then given me something like the following:

What could be causing this? From that log, does it look like the drive is failing?

illini4life: When you burn your discs and after the verifying process is finished, and you have pressed "OK", does the display on the left that comes up with the disc information say that the disc is completed. I have a few burn lately where they have burned, and even verified, but it says in the display panel that the disc is incomplete, even though the log indicated that the disc was closed and finalized. These discs sometimes will play in a dvd settop box, but the dvd drive in the computer indicates that they are blank. It would be wise not to delete your files after a burn, even if it has verified, if you notice on the display panel it says the disc is incomplete.
