shinyrory Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) Hey guys/ladies I am having problems with playing back some dvd i have backed up. when playing them on a standalone dvd player you can see some of the fram skipping which is really bugging me. When i watch the .img on my computer though it plays perfectly so there must be something im doing wrong. I am using a Pioneer DVR-111 dvd burner with latest firmware (v1.29) and using Verbatim Full-Face Printable (16x) DVD-R media (MCC03RG20). Any ideas of what i can be doing wrong? any help would be appreciated. Thanks. P.S. on another note i was wondering if you guys could tell me which media is better in your opinion: Verbatim (Taiyo Yuden) (16x) DVD-R (TYG03) or erbatim Full-Face Printable (16x) DVD-R (MCC03RG20) Thanx again Edited January 30, 2007 by shinyrory
polopony Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 maybe its your player , I use both the TY's and Verbs + and - and they both work perfectly ,I dont think you can go wrong using either of these they are the best
lfcrule1972 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Can you post a log of your last ImgBurn burn with these discs ? If you are burning at Max speed try reducing the speed to 8x and see if the results are any better

dontasciime Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 check the FAQ for DMA related issues, have your pioneer set as Master on an 80 wire ide cable. try with another ISO created with Imgburn, or older.
shinyrory Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) my drive is set as master and i checked the DMA thing, but i have no idea about this "80 wire ide cable" Edited January 30, 2007 by shinyrory
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I assume you've also tried burning them at 8x and 12x rather than just 4x? If the player is skipping on even those discs (considered to be one of the best), maybe your player is actually at fault here rather than anything you're doing / not doing?
shinyrory Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 OK thanx LUK i will check that out because i sued to be able to play discs perfect and my dvd player has been acting up a bit even on original dvd discs so its propably at fault. thanx for your help guys.
lfcrule1972 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Try some of your "problematic" burnt discs in another DVD player and see if the problem persists

dontasciime Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 (edited) yeah the staff at my local branch are DVD pushers, when i was trying to give them up, they would kindly put on a promo whereby if you bought upfront a booklet of 10 rentals, you got a free DVD player, booklet was 32.50 how could i refuse. shinyrory Posted February 3, 2007 Author Posted February 3, 2007 should i be worried about this happening when i burn: W 21:02:07 Waiting for buffers to recover... W 21:02:10 Waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level... will it cause playback issues?
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 should i be worried about this happening when i burn: W 21:02:07 Waiting for buffers to recover... W 21:02:10 Waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level... will it cause playback issues? Nah. It'll be fine if burnproof is enabled (which it is by default). It just means that your burner can't get enough data to burn at the designated speed. An example would be your virus scanner checking your HD while you're attempting to burn and the drive head having to dart all over the place trying to read the ISO you want to burn as well as your anti-virus wanting to scan files on the same harddrive. It'll slow things down a bit but it's nothing to worry about. Re-check your DMA settings if you think things are running too slowly. Info on DMA can be found in the FAQ.
