Altercuno Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Thought it would be good to have a movie thread where we can talk & recommend stuff. No talk about ripping or downloading, please. Looks like being a good summer with Spider man 3, The Simpson's Movie, Shrek 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, Resident Evil: Extinction, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Transformers... Watched The Generals Daughter (18) last night. Slow to start, but very good...
lfcrule1972 Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Well I watched American History X on DVD (I think you recommended it) and was pleased I didn't let this one pass by. Very thought provoking movie and I didn't see the ending coming I have to admit. Thanks for the nod on it.
Altercuno Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Thanks I was cringing in places, but an 18's bound to have some hard stuff. Its good to find films that are really good that have been missed. Seen The Boondock Saints?
Altercuno Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Two Irish hit men. If you haven't seen it get it...another good one General's Daughter? Another good one. Both 18's I think.
blutach Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 AHX was a top flick. General's Dorta not so. Regards
jack Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Debbie does Dallas, a classic in every sense of the word.... Oh, and dont forget The Perils of Gwendoline in the land of Yik Yak!!
lfcrule1972 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I seem to have missed out on all your "classic" recommendations Jack
Altercuno Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 Blow me...it actually exists... Got half way through Primal Fear and ground to a halt...not a big Richard Gere fan, but I do like Edward Norton (American History X). Probably try to finish it next week... Good kids films I've taken my son to see recently are: Mr Bean's Holiday - with William DeFoe, go figure TMNT Arthur & the Invisibles Eragon - just out on Dvd Ghost Rider (12) Night at the Museum
Altercuno Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 Looks like The Grindhouse has gone down the tubes. Its so bad its not even getting a UK release...
jack Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Oh yes!! Gwendoline is a masterpeice!! Tawny Kitaen with her waps out, lovely! Everybody tells me Eragon is crap, but I may watch it later and see. If you havent seen Hotel Rwanda yet then take a look, very powerful film with excellent performances. And for the Bruce Campbell fans ,check out Bubba Ho Tep. Bloody marvellous!!
Altercuno Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 Eragon was good for kids, but actors like Jeremy Irons, Robert Carlyle & John Malkovich were just thrown away...worth a look though as its part one of 2 or 3. I was wondering about Hotel Rwanda, may take a look...and Bruce Campbell. Loved that bloke since Evil Dead...
blutach Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 We caught Eragon on the weekend. Firey loves that sorta shit but for me it was about 6/10. Hotel Rwanda is a top flick. Totally shocking to even think of the events. @jack - who could forget DDD? Now, I just have to find it buried somewhere in my extensive porn collection. Regards
chewy Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Blood Diamond was better than Hotel Rowanda in my book, Last King of Scotland wasn't that good Catch a fire was OK Bridge to Teribita? seemed OK A real sleeper is supposed to be Seraphen Falls
Grain Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 And for the Bruce Campbell fans ,check out Bubba Ho Tep. Bloody marvellous!! Excellent flick, I watched Manic Cop the other night, another good 80's slasher w/Bruce the chin Campbell .
Altercuno Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Have to have a look at some of these... Couldn't find anything on Seraphen Falls chewy...not on rental or Google...
Altercuno Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Think they all did... From Wikipedia: Debbie Does Dallas is a famous 1978 pornographic movie starring Bambi Woods and Christie Ford (appearing under the name of Misty Winter). The plot of the film focuses on a team of cheerleaders attempting to earn enough money to send the title character to Dallas, Texas, to try out for the famous Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad. It had the fictional name "Cowgirls," but it was seen as a take on the real-life Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Each girl finds that she can make extra money during her after school job by having a sexual encounter with her employer. On April 11 2007, Vivid Entertainment Group is including the original Debbie Does Dallas with a new release titled Debbie Does Dallas...Again in DVD, Blu-ray, and HD-DVD formats.
