When I try to burn an ISO I get this the following error screen.

I've read that it is a hardware problem and to do a firmware update but I can't find any updates for the Philips DVD8801. Can Anyone lend me some help on this? I also get errors in any other burn program. This is just the only one that actually gives me an error other that "Unexpected Error Occurred."

Or is this burner shot and should I just get a new one?

Please paste the log from that burn. ImgBurn automatically saves them, and you can access at Help/ImgBurn logs.

New drive or new media... take your pick!

They just aren't getting along very well at the moment, hence the error.

Might be time to invest in a newer drive there mate! You can try a cleaner on the lens first, but it looks like the media/drive just don't like each other. Buy a couple of blank verbatim discs and try the same burn again, if the results are the same your drive may be on its way to the retirement park in the sky, :)

Damn....Oh well I'll pickup a cleaner tomorrow and some better disks. If it doesn't work at least burners arn't that expensive anymore. Thanks for the help everyone.

Hello all,

I'm new to this whole process -- but I get similar errors on both my drives

the optiarc is only a week old. I'm just trying to back up the original disk, I can't even get the iso to write to my HDD

Thanks

Are the master/slave setting correct...ide cables connected properly?

Still need a log...same as above.

vade,

Please don't hijack threads.

Normally I'd now tell you to go make your own, but as it's pretty clear you're trying to read a protected disc, I won't bother.

ImgBurn will not read protected discs and there's to be no discussion of such things on this forum, capisce?!
