PumpkinKing Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Why does this keep happening? The latest times I've been trying to burn an IMG file, the burning goes up to 92% and then it says "Error, Interpretation: Check condition, Interpretation: Invalid Adress For Write" and other technical crap. I can look through the entire movie almost but it just stops at the end. Anyone know why and how to fix it?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 post a copy of the log. Normally it's a case of updating the drives firmware, slowing the burn down or using different discs that your drive actually likes.

mmalves Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I 16:55:43 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) (Speeds: 2,4x; 4x; 8x; 12x; 16x)I 16:55:43 Write Speed: MAX Those are very poor quality discs, so try burning them at slower speeds and they might work. Also leave the Verify option enabled to ensure they were properly burnt. Next time you're buying blanks, get Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs and you'll never have this problem again.
chewy Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 dell benq 1640, great drive, poor support from dell benq's are like thoroughbreds, they like a good diet my 1620 and 1650 will burn that mid tho looks like most people just changed their drive to the benq 1640
PumpkinKing Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 MMalves: Thanks! Burning at a lower speed did the job!
volvofl10 Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 we would still HIGHLY recomend you get better discs next time you go shopping, like verbatim or taiyo Yuden. CMC MAG are known to be very poor quality and can become unreadable very quickly
LOCOENG Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 CMC MAG are known to be very poor quality and can become unreadable very quickly If they burn at all!
blutach Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 LOCO They burn just fine. Throw some petrol on them and light a match (it's what they're good for). Regards
nocniduh Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I also have this problem. First time it happened while verifying Verbatim 16X DVD-R, second time while verifying Verbatim 16X DVD+R. Every time, error was reported while verifying somewhere in the last 10% of disc. I haveNEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A 1.42 (ATA) in my laptop, and the max burning speed is 8x. So, I'm burning at half of DVDs writing speed, using Verbatim media and still getting this read errors? Why?
chewy Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 welcome to the forum burning at 8X with that old of a laptop drive is a little dangerous, lower burn speed to 4x the blanks are great at 8X in a newer dvd burner, laptop burners are not as good as regular full size, they break down quicker also ps, it's better to start your own thread
nocniduh Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Thank You for your advice, and Your welcome. Will try it and see how it works out. Although I bought my laptop 2 years ago, i didn't use burner very often. I don't think I have burned more than 50 DVDs+CDs, even if we count RW-s. I'm sorry I used this tread, instead of creating new. I taught since I had same problem it should go in the same topic, and thus keeping the forum less cluttered. Well I have just one more question, and than I'll leave this topic alone You said that laptop burners break down quicker. Can they the be replaced in such case? I know that memory, HD, can be replaced or upgraded, but i don't remember reading in manual about burner being replaced. Or maybe to buy external burner (rack + classic burner) is better option? If You recommend second option, could You recommend some model, or what to look for when choosing. I can read from some forums that there is no brand that is reliable these days, not even if You by the most expensive one. It all depends on the production series you get your hands on.
chewy Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 as long as you have usb2 on your laptop then an external is a better option, try the 4x burn tho
volvofl10 Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Internal laptop drives are replacable , but VERY expenxive ,you will probably get 2 external burners for the same cost as a laptop dvd drive, and as long as you ahve usb 2 , you should happily reach 8x , but stick to 8x whatever PC set up you have, its more reliable its worth doing as Chewy said above, reduce burn to 4x , or you may have to go as low as 2x ( despite what the manufacturer of the drive says it can do) also in TOOLS>SETTINGS>READ tab , check the "set read speed" and set it to say 8x for data and see if that helps. even though you errored out in the verify process, the disc may still be fully readable by a standalone dvd player
nocniduh Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Thank You both. I'll start looking for external burner. I've set the max burning speed in ImgBurn to 6x for now, I will lower it again, and again until those verify errors stop showing. I forgot to mention that even with the 8x speed, they show up roughly every 10th DVD. But I'll burn at lover speeds. As for that read option that You recommend volvofl10, I don't think it would have any effect, since mu drive's max read speed for DVD+-R is already 8x. Don't have a standalone dvd player, but every time the verify fails, I try to copy that disc on a HD, just to be sure, and it always failed. But, if it's a video file, you can forward over the damaged place, so DVD isn't wasted completely. Thank You for your time.
chewy Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 there's not a lot of choice in external drives, where are you located? region of the world? be sure and ask about particular models before buying, you don't want some crossbranded piece of crap
