device not present

This question is different from the others i have read containing this error. I have been burning DVDs using either IMG or DVD decrypter and have never had any issues. Now all of a sudden when I try to burn I get "device not ready - meium not present" error. Now I know this error means it's not reading the discs I am using, however it has burned using these discs over 50-100 times. The drive is Phillips DVD+RW SDVD8820 the discs I am using are Memorex DVD-R, Memorex DVD+R and Sony+R. It has burned using all of these discs and now won't read any of them. I am not sure what to do and would greatly appeciate any assistance.

Try some better media.

You might find your drive has just worn out. Try cleaning it and if that fails, be prepared to buy a new one.

Silly question, but when you insert a disc does it actually spin up?
