LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Use a newer drive, that thing is ancient! You could also try a firmware update to v1.19 http://www.ricoh.com/drive/asia/exe/M72_0119.exe
masterpkg Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 thanks for your reply.. I tried update the firmware , but get a error when trying to do it.. the RFLASH.EXE program doesn't even recognize any of my drives, when selecting the target drive. also when i click the option to "back up current f\w", i get cdrw00.ric??? seem like the flash program is not recognizing the current dvd firmware if that makes sense.. let me know if you want to post some screen shots.. one again thanks so much for your time.. hope everything makes sense P.s my computer is hp refurbished computer .
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 http://www.ricohpmmc.com/download/DVD/loader/RFlash.zip Try the rflash.exe program in this zip, it's a bit newer. You could also try installing the legacy Adaptec ASPI and changing the 'compatibility' flags on rflash.exe so it thinks it's being run under Win 95 /98 etc.
masterpkg Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 did all of that it. the "RFlash.exe" was able to see my drive, but it still didn't work when trying to update the firmware .. gave me error "cannot update for different Typecode - NG*NG*NG" also wast't sure if i got the right " legacy Adaptec ASPI" or if i installed it correctly. here the page i went to "http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2_exe.htm" let know if thats what you were talking about.. and if you have any other tips or solutions..thanks again!!!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 If the program found your drive in the list then don't worry about the aspi thing. I guess if it doesn't want to update then you're stuck.
