goweb Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I'm running Prevx and it detects the ImgBurn uninstaller (uninstall.exe in the ImgBurn program folder) as containing the malware Generic.Dropper.xCodec. I downloaded ImgBurn from the ImgBurn link on www.imgburn.com Does this file inadvertently contain a virus?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 No, Prevx is showing a false positive.
blutach Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 @goweb It's a good idea to report it to them and send them the file so they can fix their program. Regards
r0lZ Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Checked with AVG antivirus and antispyware, and with Spyware terminator. No problem found.
digidragon Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 As well as AVG at home, I scanned with McAfee in work. Both were fine.
spinningwheel Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Generic.Dropper.xCodec Not the first time nor will it be the last time that some anti-malware/spyware/virus program has sounded off about something in IB. Report it to the software company and always make sure that you download the ImgBurn program from a mirror located on the opening page of this forum and no from some warez site.....
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 NSIS installers always have these issues... the mean spyware/malware scanners should give them a break!
JasonFriday13 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I know, I use NSIS most of the time. My sig has a few links below.
