-The md5 checksum matched the original though.IS a finalization issue so important?

-Anyway i got the latest firmware from nec site.Is the one you posted a modified flash file or just a mirror?

-Also on rpc-1.org there's also newer versions (rpc2 which is me) 1.f1 and 1.f2 probably they're modified, shall i try them?

The data is ok, the verify proves that. The trouble is, when the drive doesn't finalise the disc properly it can lead to problems in other drives - where they won't be able to read the disc at all (they'll fail to initialise it).

If it's important stuff, burn another copy.

Either way, do the firmware update.

1.04 is the latest for your model - direct from the nec site, I just looked it up!

yes i know about it being the officially last,i'm just wondering if newer modified flashes have anything more to offer.

Ok i'll do it since you advise me to,thanx for the support.

I don't think they're newer at all, they're just 'Mad Dog' ones. (Mad Dog drives are NEC ones)

1.F1 is probably based on 1.01, 1.F2 based on 1.02 etc.

So 1.04 IS the latest.

Ok i did all of the above and burned again with success, but i misplaced the initial dvd and now i cant say which is which.

IS there a way to id via the log or any other way, which dvd of the 2 is the one not finalized correctly?
