Grain Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 New firmware out there for the 1655 released on the 20th, see it here. Does anyone know if it matters which drive you have, oem or retail? ie will firmware cause a retail drive to loose it's added functionality, or for that matter make an oem equal?
lfcrule1972 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Well my retail one has BCAB FW and that is BCDB so I would guess its the retail FW......... Release Reason: 1. Improved the writing quality by updated writing strategy. 2. Improved LightScribe printing quality. 3. Fixed QScan hang issue.
Grain Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 I'm anxious to try it out when I get home from work. I'm not impressed with the results w/ BCAB at all.
lfcrule1972 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Flash it mate - I just did !! I don't think the current version of DVDinfoPro is quite ready for this drive tho Can't scan with it yet but hopefully will be able to soon....
Grain Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 Nice , due to court order I haven't flashed much since the "incident", but perhaps it's time for the trenchcoat to re-appear .

polopony Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Nice , due to court order I haven't flashed much since the "incident", but perhaps it's time for the trenchcoat to re-appear . make sure you get the trouser legs also and a supply of rubber bands to hold them up
Grain Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 Tried out the new firmware with a TYG02, got a quality rating of 87% , scanned with InfoPro and the Plex. Is there a "workaround" to get the 1655 to scan with InfoPro LFC?
lfcrule1972 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Not yet, but apparently its fixed for the next release of DVDinfoPro whenever that may be....
Grain Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 If I try to scan with my 1655 it kills DVDInfoPro, and locks the drive up until you shut down. I tried this 4 times to be sure .
chewy Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 If I try to scan with my 1655 it kills DVDInfoPro, and locks the drive up until you shut down. I tried this 4 times to be sure . Have you tried the other scanning program?
lfcrule1972 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Its being fixed Grain - LUK told me that Nic W is aware of it and the latest release of DVDinfoPro supports the BenQ 1655 I had to laugh tho cos I did the same thing with DVDinfoPro !!
lfcrule1972 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Oh and if the drive is locked by DVDinfoPro, open ImgBurn and use the "E" button to eject the media !!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 4.54 is out now. You can get it via the downloads area at speedlabs.org http://www.speedlabs.org/downloads/Tools/D...rosplmirror.htm
lfcrule1972 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Cheers boss - so I am clear, this version replaces the one you got me the other week for the disc tests with the BenQ ?
Grain Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Oh and if the drive is locked by DVDinfoPro, open ImgBurn and use the "E" button to eject the media !! Excellent tip, thanks I'll update DVDinfopro & give it a whirl. @Chewy, haven't tried any other scanning program w/ the 1655, I do use Plextools w/ the 716 though.
