zejedi Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hi All, I want to burn some CD with a very small speed (like 2x or 4x) with ImgBurn. I do set the write speed to 2x in ImgBurn but the session ends within second and with a write rate of 16x like in this example : I 13:04:52 Destination Media Sectors: 335
spinningwheel Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Your drive set the speed, you have done nothing wrong.
zejedi Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Your drive set the speed, you have done nothing wrong. Thanks for the answer. But is there a way to override the speed set by the drive ? Because the CD burned at 16x are unreadable on any other player, except from my PC, so I really would like to burn at a smaller speed.
Cynthia Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 In the part of the log that you didn't post you should see the available speeds that can be used with the current firmware. (The example is for a DVD) I 18:20:23 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: MCC-004-00) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x; 12x; 16x; 20x) The other thing that can be an issue is the brand of media you are using. Perhaps it's of low quality?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 97m26s11f is postech (piece of sh... ? ) A quick google search says they're C+ class media. Get Taiyo Yuden CDs, they're by far the best.

Perhaps it's of low quality? Hi Cynthia, Thanks for your help. Here's the missing line, no speeds : I 19:47:20 Destination Media Type: CD-R (Disc ID: 97m26s11f) Sure it's of low quality, this is noname CD-R, and this is one of the reason I would like to burn at low speed. With my previous CD-Writer (an old Samsung RW 52x), I was writing on these CD-R at 4x or 8x without any problem, and they were readable everywhere (in my car, on my PCs etc...). Now that I have a "modern" DVD Writer, I can't set the burning speed anymore ?
Cynthia Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 As there are no write speeds after the Disc ID part - that media code/brand of discs is not even supported by the firmware/writer, so I guess the writer uses a generic write approach that doesn't seem to work very well. Try to get some better discs.
