Scott1990 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 (edited) Hi, well ive come across an error which i cant seem to get my head around. I have used dvd flick to convert a .avi file and after it has been completed and imgburn opens i get this: Ive had a lot of problems trying to burn dvds on this new computer and i have been trying for a couple of days now without any success, i am new to doing it. Sorry if this has been posted before and i didnt see it or if it is a somewhat stupid question, but hopefully someone can help me out with my error, thanks a lot for looking. Edit- Looking at it again i have been told it could be a hardware problem.. Edited February 25, 2009 by Scott1990
mmalves Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Please post the full log of that burn. If I recall correctly DVD Flick saves ImgBurn's log in the same folder where the project is saved.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Use better (write once) media, your drive doesn't like that dye.
egor147 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 21:18:47 Destination Media Type: DVD-RW (Disc ID: RITEKW01) (Speeds: 2x) [...] 21:18:47 Write Speed: 4x Or maybe try to set lower speed manually (1x-2x).
mmalves Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Won't make any difference as you can't force the drive to use an unsupported write speed (ImgBurn will send the command as you've selected but the drive ignores it and uses a write speed closest the one you've selected).
Scott1990 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the replys. mmalves - do you mean egor147s idea is not a solution to this problem? LIGHTNING UK! - by that do you mean try a different disc to burn it onto instead of dvd-rw? Again, sorry if this is a stupid question but i have been stuck for a couple of days now and i just really want to get this done. Edited February 26, 2009 by Scott1990
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 You're using rewritables (DVD-RW or DVD+RW) and they just aren't as good as write once media (DVD-R or DVD+R). Not only that, the DVD-RW you're using has a RITEK dye and that's awful at the best of times! Get some decent Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R / DVD+R and you should be ok.

LIGHTNING UK!, would something like these be a good choice and a solution to this error? http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=33662 http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=43178 Also is there any way to clean a dvd-/+r disc incase i do make a mistake? Again, thanks for all your help. Edited February 26, 2009 by Scott1990
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Personally I wouldn't bother with such a small pack, buy a spindle of 25. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...14&doy=26m2 http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...14&doy=26m2 I prefer Verbatim's DVD+R's to their DVD-R's. If I want DVD-R I go for Taiyo Yuden (TYG02 dye, 8x speed) They're a lot cheaper at SVP though - http://svp.co.uk/category/dvd_plus_r_non_minus_printable/4/
Scott1990 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Ok thanks, i'll get some Verbatim dvd-r or dvd+r's and will post the result later, thanks again LIGHTNING UK!.
Scott1990 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Yep that works, thanks so much LIGHTNING UK!,
