Yeah it may well happen in a future version. There is no current workaround though. For now, use Nero, cdrwin etc.

It's not supposed to burn bin/cue files really. Chances are, your bin file is an audio disc or something. It should be able to figure out most of the others if they're just simple images read in 'raw' format. What does the CUE file look like? Open it in notepad and copy + paste its contents.

Go back over to cdfreaks. You can get LtnFlash from there (the flashing tool). You can also get onmipatcher. Download the bin file of the 852 firmware from the onmipatcher site and run it through omnipatcher to allow crossflashing. (i.e. going from Sony -> LiteOn). The LiteOn forum will help you out with all the info you need, you just need to read the right posts

We were more concerned with 1655 OEM/Retail firmware. AFAIK, nobody has dumped the 1655's firmware or knows for sure if any 3rd party flashers work.

Have you tried cross flashing to a real liteon firmware rather than the sony version? It's failing to write to any DVD+R DL media really. That's where the power calibration failures are coming from. The drive / firmware isn't able to calculate a decent laser power to use for the actual burn. The real liteon firmware may have better support for DL media, that's why I said you should try cross flashing.

That yellow one says 'Waiting for device to become ready...'. It's just telling you what's going on and is supposed to be there. Nothing to worry about at all.

Yes, I would say that the drive is the problem. It's probably cheaper to just buy a new one than to keep messing around making DL coasters!

You can press F6 to enable some additional debugging code. When Verify errors out, it'll dump the sector's data to the log. Next time you burn, maybe give that a try?

I'm not sure how clever Nero is when burning images. ImgBurn actually detects the correct format but checking a zillion things within the image. As such, all that Mode 1, Mode 2 (Form 1 / Form 2) stuff is automatic. If it loads the file without showing an 'unsupported or invalid image' type error, the program will show the format of the image on the main page - next to where it displays the number of sectors the image represents.

That image doesn't appear to have ANY file system in it at all! The first non zero characters in it are the header for an IFO file!

Is there *anything* non bog ISO standard about these images? I really don't understand where the data corruption is coming from. If there was some program problem I'd expect it to find its way into write and verify. They use the exact same function for reading from the file. Also, as only part of the sector seems to be wrong (not the entire sector), it really doesnt make sense! If only I could find a pc it breaks on and physically sit down at it and debug it
