Disable the splash screen?

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I don't like the looks of the splash screen and would like to disable it.

I'm not looking for extra launch speed as i know it does stuffs in the background while the splash screen is shown anyway. I just don't like the looks of it.

Is there a registry key somewhere or a trick to hide it?

Later,

No. It is shown when the program is loading and doing stuff in the background.

What's more, I think the ImgBurn splash screen is really cool.

If you hate splash screens, try splashkiller - http://www.digitallis.co.uk/

Only reason I could see for hiding it would be to maybe run it without the user being aware.

My suggestion would be to load it and simultaneously close your eyes, then you won't know its there.

So you don't like the decent new one but were ok with the previous 'box' one?

On principle, I don't want to remove it (it serves a purpose) but I might allow reverting to the old style for those of you who prefer the simple things in life.

3458 registered users, a zillion downloads of the program...... and 1 guy with an esthetics problem....I wonder if Nero would offer to change their splash screen looks for an end user???? What a :worthy: Boss :worthy:

I much prefer the new splash screen - surely the request of one won't see it's demise Lightning ?

I guess I am going to have to fragment my drive or multitask more intensively, I never get a good look at it, sure does look fancy.

Yeah actually i prefer the old one.

Although i won't stop using this absolutely awesome program if you don't do anything about it!

This program rocks beyond words, is free and is far better than all its commercial rivals!

Messing with splashscreen config is made more complex because it's displayed before cli parameters are parsed and the settings are loaded (be it from the registry or the CLI configured INI file) etc.

So yeah, I think I'll just leave it as it is.

I say again, splashkiller will do the job for you no worries. It's a tiny freeware app (40kb or something), runs in the systray and is configurable for those apps you don't want to kill the splashscreen (e.g ImgBurn :D)

What about an argument such as /nosplash ?

(Like some other programs have, isobuster, goldwave, etc..)

No need to put an option _inside_ the program really, but using /nosplash in the shortcut would suppress it.
