Put the DVD-RW in the drive. Load ImgBurn From the Tools -> Drive -> Close menu, Select 'Track', 'Session', 'Disc' (in that order). Keep note of which ones work and which ones display and error, then report back. Hopefully when you've done all 3 it will no longer say 'Incomplete'. If it does, stop using that media - you drive doesn't fully support it. Maybe a firmware update would fix that. Personally I've had no experience of Ritek RW media, I only use Verbatim/Ricoh ones.

You should be looking towards to newer nec 3570 4570, 4571 burners really. The pioneer 111 also - I'm just doing some burns + scans on the pioneer at the moment. cdrinfo have a comprehensive review of the Plextor 760 up now. Still not decided if it's really that wonderful yet! (chances are I'll still get one though )

As mentioned in another thread a couple of hours earlier, once a command has been sent to the drive, it sits and waits for a response. If it doesn't get one, it waits and waits and waits. To put a timeout on such things not really a good idea. Firstly, it's hard to know what to set it to - all drives do things differently and what works for one may not be enough for another. Putting a timeout on a command has the effect of resetting the bus when that timeout expires. Resetting the bus is not a good thing as it brings everything else down with it. You cannot abort whilst it's waiting for a response because ImgBurn is not in control at that point. To terminate something internally would not mean your system jumps back to life - turning off the usb enclosure is pretty much the only way out. Test mode isn't actually burning to the media, so really it's just testing the speed of your machine. It won't necessarily find all problems that can occur during an actual burn. That said, Infosmart media is baaaaaaadddddd!

As above plus it's kinda odd you have drivers from 3 other cd burning tools installed and yet you say you only have 2 programs - neither of which are responsible for those drivers! If ImgBurn stops doing stuff and the buffers are full, it means your drive (or the I/O subsystem) has given up responding to the last command. As soon as your drive springs back into life (which never happens), ImgBurn will continue.

If you're clever, you can still get it from ImgBurn.com In all fairness, that last windows caching problem (which I still don't consider a 'bug', as technically, I'm not doing anything wrong!) was something I added at the last minute. I checked for obvious problems and didn't find any. Had it have gone out to the beta team, no doubt one of them would have also had the problem and told me about it. I do suffer from it too, but I have enough memory not to notice and also a different setup (using scsi, sata and ide) to the average joe. I don't want you to all think 'we' (the beta team an I) are all useless... they (the beta team) played no part in that problem reaching the end user. I guess that just makes me useless!
