and ALL politicians are lying basts, just like the weather people on TV are as well......................................... everyone will have to think deep to put up an argument to that one Jill

as you've tried most things now, i think its time to get a new "burner" as your pans are not compatible with your current oven/hotplate
in the meantime you could go to KFC to buy ready cooked beans
-
I'm trying to open a can of beans but it appears the cogs have worn out.
Anything you can do to help.
Also ne1 know why my pen just stopped working.
Thanks
dear Donta
check for firmware updates for your tin openers drive
update to latest version of ImgBurn
failing the above, just stick it in the microwave, it will open the tin eventually
and dont buy the cheap beans from Aldi again ,spend a few pennies more on decent brand named ones in a decent tin, your tin opener wont struggle to deal with these.
Oh , and your pen stopped working because you tried to stab the tin of beans open with it

well spotted i didnt make that clear did i . DVD +R DL are the only ones to use
DVD -R DL are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot in the summer
and the verbs for single layer really need to be the ones with MCC dye
-
2.70 is about 5.5 Us $ so 10 x = 55$US
most UK members use svp, as does a few members in other countries . Not giving them a send up, but they are DAMN GOOD
so our list of recomendations reads
Dual layer VERBATIM ONLY
single layer Taiyo yuden, verbatim
supplier's SVP ( Uk and europe)

first off, update your firmware, your about 4 versions behind , its up to JYO8 now and your on JY02
your connection could still be in doubt as to wether its USB1 or USB2
-
the guides section springs to mind here
-
FYI we dont go a bundle on anything downloaded thats copywrite in here due to legal reasons

it IS your disc's thats the problem, so using cheaper ones is false economy as you waste more than you can make use of.
yours are $1.10 each , so 5 coasters plus the 1 successful one have cost $6.60 for 1 disc
using verbs will/may give you the odd coaster ( say 1 in 40 odd, or even higher) but more importantly. they will still be readable in 1 years time , you get what you pay for with blank media I'm afraid
-
You may find you have to ditch that writer as they are not very good / have caused lots of people issues
now i know what the "shit" in "matshita" means
seriously Donta right about them causing problems for many people, likewise with HP drives
-
chances are that the verbatim's you bought are not MCC dye , which is probably why they wont work . the best bet for verbatims if your not sure is to get the verbatim datalifeplus ones. i think these are all MCC dye
HP drives are known for being temperamental with media ( seen many comments in here about them) and temperamental in general , my suggestion to you would be to get a new drive, preferably a well known quality one to replace the HP with

sounds like you burnt the .mpg to a data disc, when what you should of done is converted the .mpg to a dvd compliant structure first, and then burnt it to disc
-
let s suppose it will resolve the problem of the file in the right order, then i only need to make an iso of the folder containing the video files
what about the problem that the files titles are truncated ?
thanks
yes ..........as long as you have IB at default settings and follow the guides
and
check what file system your is using ( ISO9660 and UDF option).
select BUILD Mode> OPTIONS TAB to see
and also check ADVANCED TAB>RESTRICTIONS TAB>Folder/file name length.

i think power calibration is a test that the burner does to work out what degree of power to give the laser to burn the disc .
Should the burner be unable to determine what level of power to use, it means it cant figure out the media thats in the burner.
as per above ,
1st change media
2nd use a disc cleaner
3rd change/bin the drive
4th follow the link in the post above

I 20:55:27 Average Write Rate: 7.450 KB/s (5.4x) - Maximum Write Rate: 10.256 KB/s (7.4x)
This is pretty good for an external writer from a laptop anyway. the laptops hdd I/O speeds are a lot lower than a normal comparative desktop system
-
Laptop drives have never really been anygood , ive ahd 5 laptop machines over the years and every 1 of them have failed in 1 way or another . The dvd drives are worse than standard cd drives.
your best dvice is to get a decent external burner for starters.
regrading the media your using, refer to Shamus'sssssss comments above
it may be worth while changing the write speed from MAX to 2x,or even 1x but again, get an external burner

what happened to my post ?
i dont know, the postman says he put it in your box at 9.15 am today

i think you've just been lucky so far with the traxdata disc's , for Dual Layer DV9 disc's the only reliable media is Verbatim , nothing else has the same consistency as verbs .
Your error message is "failed to write sectors 2247872-2247903", simply explained, it means the drive cannot find the sectors on the disc that relate to 2247872-2247903, most likely cause is the media is not readable . This problem can be confirmed by trying Verbatim dual layer disc's instead. If its successfully, then stick to verbs for dual layer .
-
on a side note
is t possible that the disc you used has soemthing on it, or has been used previously for a failed burn ?
-
To Volvo: Yes, according to the logs, the media is CMC MAG. AM3. A little googling shows that NO ONE likes this media! I thought buying HP branded media would be safe. Oops.
Dont worry Robeo , we've all been there in one way or another regarding poor media.
Recommendations in here are
For single layer DV5 either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatims ( safest is the datalifeplus variants)
For Dual layer DV9 only Verbatim will do
-
before i see the log, im going to guess that the media is CMC based, and Lightning_UKs right with
"it's normally a sign that the Drive doesnt like the discs"
closely followed by Blutach's
"sometimes 2nd rate stuff can be very hit and miss"
-
i get verbatim but i continue with the error..this is the logfile:
