  1. I was saying CMC named themselves an anagram of MCC to make it look like they were something in the same league. That may be why MCC also decided to use MKM. To help further distinguish themselves from the crap that is CMC.
  2. MCC is definitely a good dye manufacturer. Notice how CMC rearranges the letters of a reputable maker so they try to fool people? Even Memorex, which normally uses CMC for its media, used it for its 24x CD-RW's. Unfortunately, Verbatim also outsources some of its CD-R and its BD-RE's to them.
  3. I would check the MID in ImgBurn for these Verbatim discs. I've not used their AZO discs but I don't get Verbatim CD-R's because the ones I got and returned were made by CMC Magnetics. CMC is the worst, bottom of the barrel optical disc manufacturer. They can't be trusted, especially if you're after long term archival storage.
  4. He means buy CD-RW if you need rewritables.
  5. I, too, have random crashes on exit. LUK couldn't find a cause. I still get them. Had one last night.
  6. Are an .md5 file and an .mds file the same file? Meaning, if something like DVD Shrink can read in an .MDS file, can it read an .MD5 file created by AnyDVD if one just renames the .MD5 as an .MDS extension?
  7. I should have realized about there not being a 1x for DVD+RW, as they started at 2.4x, a rather odd value. So, even if we leveled the playing field at 4x for both, the speeds would still be the same.
  8. How do discs load in the most recent PS3 model, known as the super slim? From what I've seen of images from search results, it looks like the top is a sliding door that opens to the left, revealing the disc recess where you load the disc. Then, you close this sliding door. Is this the case? IF it is, and I'm guessing it is, this is another fucking stinking top loader! Top loading was the bane of the PS 1, a source for most of its common problems. The PS 2 was also killed, quality wise, by slipping from the fix of a tray loader to becoming a top loader. And now, Sony continues to kill its product lines with a top loading PS 3. The good news is I will never have to deal with Sony declining quality on a PS 4. They require an Internet connection to be able to use them as a DVD/Blu-Ray player because the software needed to play them must be downloaded. Plus, you must have an Internet connection to register the device before you can even use it. NO thanks. And Sony said you won't need an Internet connection to use the device. You won't need a constant on connection to use it but you MUST have one to be able to use it. Either way, it's a lie.
  9. When burning on the same level playing field, at 1x, which is faster? DVD+R or DVD-R? Or are the speeds relatively the same? How about for DVD+RW versus DVD-RW?
  10. Also try powering off the PC/external burner, powering back on and restarting Windows. I've encountered instances where Windows simply doesn't refresh the contents list properly on discs inserted until I've done this.
  11. Do you know if you used that first disc for writing in another program? I've noticed that some programs seem to apparently to do weird things in writing. ImgBurn wants to fully erase them after they've been used. I haven't had that happen in a while so I don't know what program it was that did that for me, but I have encountered it before. It makes no sense, actually, that it should but I have had it happen.
  12. Now, is 10/5/2005 a British or American date? Meaning, was it released October 5th or May 10th?
  13. Is it next year or 2016? I have a disc created after 03-30-2006 but before 04-12-2006 that my notes say was made by ImgBurn. So, I know ImgBurn's first public release is somewhere around that date. But was it released before 2006?
  14. Sorry, I've never owned an Xbox. I couldn't tell you. All I know is it requires some specific models of burners with specific configurations/software to do that.
  15. Have you always used RITEK DVD-R? Are your DVD+R Ritek as well? Are you using the same DVD-R's you've always used? If so, maybe the manfucaturer changed dye manufacturers. How many different DVD players have you tried? If you've tried multiple players, then if your DVD-R's changed, maybe your drive doesn't like Ritek DVD-R.
  16. Ricoh can be iffy media in some parts of the world. For instance, in the US, Ricoh media is generally pretty good. I've had Ritek DVD+R DL that burned fine. But many European users have reported Ricoh media isn't very good. Since you reported good burns with Verbatims, it's most likely the Ricoh media is not liked by your burner. Although the Verbatims you mentioned being made by umedisc is a little unusual. I've never heard of umedisc being a Verbatim outsource company, like CMC.
  17. I'm not really interested in it being lossless or not. FLAC was simply the delivery method. I'm perfectly happy with MP3, as long as I set the settings to make it the highest possible and CBR. But, I'll install madFlac. I can remember the ancient 1997 days when I had to go completely out of Windows and use a DOS utility to rip CD's to WAV and then back into Windows and run a Windows app to convert the WAV to MP3. I couldn't rip to WAV except completely out of Windows into DOS. And I didn't have an app yet that ripped directly to MP3 until MusicMatch Jukebox. MMJ was actually the first piece of software I ever bought a license for online.
  18. I just used the convertor to change the FLAC's into MP3's and ImgBurn imported them fine into an Audio CD.
  19. Actually, I just found a free FLAC to MP3 convertor. ImgBurn may accept those converted MP3's. If not, then Nero or Roxio should.
  20. The bit depth is listed as 24. Is that the same as 24 bit, which I'm guessing it is? If it is, then, is there nothing I can do about this?
  21. I guess I should ask the important question IF FLAC files can be converted to Audio CD with ImgBurn.
  22. I'm trying to create an Audio CD from FLAC files. ImgBurn said that all 4 files either needed a DirectShow filter installed or that they might be corrupt. How would I know what DirectShow filters to install and where would I get them? Here's the relevant information: E 14:06:11 ConnectFilters(Source, Sample Grabber) Failed! E 14:06:11 Reason: No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection. E 14:06:11 Hint: You may need to install some additional DirectShow filters in order to support files of this type or the file might be corrupt.
  23. When a music CD is read to an image file, the read process starts with Analysing Tracks. What exactly is this analysis? What is it analyzing for?
  24. Try shutting down Windows, powering off the PC, leaving it turned off for a minute, and restarting. Then see if ImgBurn recognizes the disc. If the drive is external, power it off and leave it off for a minute. I've encountered instances where ImgBurn won't recognize media even though just a minute before it had and powering off the PC/restarting Windows was the only thing that fixed it.
  25. Oh, wait, you said so media player can play them. So, it depends on what kind of media is on the disc. AVI, MP4, etc. Along as it's not a DVD Video, with a VIDEO_TS folder and VOB files inside it, you can use My Computer to drag and drop the contents to HD. Even if it is a Video DVD with a VIDEO_TS folder, if the disc isn't protected by CSS or other video content protection, you can just drag and drop the VIDEO_TS folder to HD. Then, you can open the VIDEO_TS.IFO inside the VIDEO_TS folder in Windows Media Player to play the DVD Video contents. If you can't drag and drop the VIDEO_TS contents, then the disc is protected. We can't help with protected video discs, I'm afraid.
