You really need to be gentle like Shamus said with toothpaste, I wasn't and knackered the disc - still it had lovely fresh breath ! I use a liquid car polish like Mer © ! (Free samples accepted), you wet the disc surface first with water then apply small dots of polish to the disc then polish with a soft cloth. I have read you need to polish from the centre out to the edge in straight lines but I don't always remember to do that and as long as you do a bit at a time you should be fine. Once done take a clean soft cloth and polish away the dry polish before attempting to read the disc again. This has only failed me in one attempt so far, that disc looked like an ice rink anyway so not surprised !

Is Burn Proof still on in the options ? You will be able to see it from your log..... If you copy paste one here we can take a look. Also I wondered if the media might be the problem with the jumps in the playback......

I have to agree that the TYG02's burn better, according to the slightly dubious scans on the NEC, at their rated speed rather than at the 12x the firmware allows. I have been restricting them to 8x tho..... I have some TYG03's to try, these I will burn at 16x tho as that is the rated speed, otherwise you pay more for a disc that doesn't do its job.

It does get frustrating after a while to see the same question asked over and over again, just cos someone is lazy and can't be arsed to search or read the topics ! Still, its always been like that.........

I am not big on guns either Shamus - its against the law to own most kind of guns here, I only ever seem in documentary's or films oh and the odd PS2 game..... I don't think thats a particular disadvantage however, I wouldn't want to be shot by any type of bullet.....

Its a wonder anyone survives those kinds of shots isn't it ?

Thanks for the advice - I will be sticking to the DW1655 tho guys, when I get a new burner I always try and get the newest one available - ok lightscribe isn't going to be my main reason for buying it (I print all my discs with my Epson R200) but it will be there to experiment on when I get bored of helping with the disc tests.......

@digi - Turns out that Komplett got it wrong, the more expensive DW1655 is the retail one I kept pushing them to clarify and eventually I noticed that the manf. prod id is for the retail model ! The included progs have more options in them than the OEM as Grain pointed out......
