No server OS?, but a domain?
Does the netgear work with just the xp pro online?
-
what are the OS's on your lan?
google browsemaster election
-
Well at least the firmware immaturity problems with the 1655
doesn't seem to affect scanning with the "other" program..
just burning issues.

(2 x 400gig Barracudas)
ST3400832A 400 GB
Maybe they lied!
By monthly I meant they kept trying until they gave up some months ago!
What are you using for browsemaster?

Why do people wear sweaters in IT departments in summer?
My 37% overclock has a custom layer of cu based paste with TT
silent boost HS/Fan.
1.47 V, MoBo 18C / cpu 22C idle / ambient 17C
amd64/3000/venice/939 is an awesome chipset
would be nice to get some cas 2 ram to run at 550
now a multiplier unlocked opteron would be nice

now that's gonna be an interesting scan
"E 17:35:10 Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:20:46"
-
dedicated video machine, on my other box(work), I can see
little sqiggles in my refernce line when I scan, but never a glitch in a burn or scan
-
-
hope they don't send you an oem by mistake or are all the 55's retail?
-
that's why you can't have too many burners or media types
If I couldn't get that media to burn right I would pitch the burner
or get one that could
-
the support page shows monthly updates for firmware and utility and a very short supported drive list

very complicated, I just stick with other brands myself

keep an eye on the sensor part and you are on the wrong side of the equator for this time of year to really crank it up, an ambient drop of 5C can give you a 10-15C lower idle or load temp
try to fix the command rate, you were at
Command Rate (CR) 1Tway to go, the new bios settings are a little hard to get used to
to test settings, besides for bsod's, I used a program to create a folder of
7-8 gigs on one hard drive then I would transcode to another hard drive
with full speed settings(70% compression), then time! I almost broke 9 minutes.

I wonder what's it's hierarchy is in the browsemaster election?
-
RICOH 2.4x DVD+R DL [RICOHJPN-D00-01]
or why you should use verbatim, pioneer's are the only burners I have seen to get a decent burn on that media, of course sooner or later, ricoh/ritek MIGHT get it together.

Anybody?
the only thing I can spot is the burner is slaved to another drive, the iso should be good to go,
Is the liteon getting a little old?
-
That would be a very good test, since it would isolate the burn,
be nice to see what a scan of the unburned layer revealed!
I've nicknamed this phantom effect "hazing"!
-
I suspect there is some damage to the top layer. Since i have never seen a really pretty
DL burn scan.
-
the head movement on the stripe must be something else
-
corn warned about your network, a 4x burn is pretty good on a 100 base, really need a gigbit
-
it would be very interesting to see a log of good media burn
from that machine
-
That said, it doesn't seem to have installed the PATA side of the 'enhanced' drivers. Those are still registering as standard.
that part is the key
It seems most of the problems come with outdated drivers being installed onto XP sp2

A lot of the symptoms you described could be partly due to browsemaster elections, in the MS hierarchy W2K and WinXPpro are equal, whatever machine has been running longest becomes a default server for shares, if that machine is flakeing out you have a mess.
We had a similar problem with an older box that stayed in a locked office and was never rebooted, I installed remote desktop and
would reboot it to get back my lan shares.
