-
have you tried moving the file(iso) to the laptop hard drive before burning?

Flashed the NEC with MAD DOGS firmware, are they fucking stupid? nothing sees the drive as NEC anymore, what do I do to flash it back or change it? DOH!
I used the maddog for over 6 months and got good burns with it, but scanning stopped as did bitsetting,
flashed 3 times since then! 2u4 > (Dee's advise) 2u3 > 2u2(MichaelDebor's advise)
http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/3520/
some drives do better with firmware based on 3.05, some with 3.06
course i have 2 more to sort out(3520's)

TDK 8x media can be some of the worst!
Post a log, firmware may need updating
-
considering Dee recently said the NEC 3500 still reigns supreme burning dvd-r media, I would use her latest!
2TB

I usually have to flash a new dvd burner as soon as I get it.

NT-SPTI used
Nero Version: 6.6.1.4
can nero hose the spti?

After 2 burn comparaisons, it looks that imgBurn did a better job then Nero.
The first picture is imgBurn, quality rating at 97.67% and the second one is Nero, 97.65%.
you don't see consistency like this very often, as LUK said the burning program does not impact the quality of the burn, that's a nice benq now!
-
If I try to scan with my 1655 it kills DVDInfoPro, and locks the drive up until you shut down. I tried this 4 times to be sure .
Have you tried the other scanning program?
-
It's "5 O'clock Somewhere"

from over on the dark side!
The Philips firmware does not support PIF scanning, so you get 0 PIF errors. The firmware also does not allow scanning at higher speeds. This is why the scanning freaks here dropped their warranty and crossflashed to the Benq firmware. Thanks, I cross-flashed it to a BenQ 1640 and got the latest firmware. Now I can scan using DVDInfoPro normally, from your nero log, what was the setting for burn speed?
-
I hope not! I want to get good at this!
I like the quality rating on this one, but thats about the only bit I do understand!!
according to Zevia,
Keep in mind that Jamos use a Lite-On drive which is 1ECC scanner and will produce lower PIFs compared to BenQ scans (8ECC). -
since we got off topic i didn't want him taking that sledgehammer to his laptop to measure how long the cable was, maybe 6 inches?
-
I'd go with the liteon, especially since the philips is so old and doesn't support -R format, looks like more read errors even at slow speed!
-
after reading about that old phillips drive, i can see why you use the
+R riteks, it has a real hard time with the TYG0X's
rare old drive
-
I think I'd bush the ritek's, have you scanned a phillips burn on them?
-
much better nowflawless burnsare flawless too
after succombing to the scanning madness, these terms will see infrequent use!
-
sorry jack I thought you were trying to get as bad a scan as possible,
rescan that disk at 8x and see if it makes any difference, liteons are used to primarily scan and read if someone has other burners.
-
jack still thinks he taking the triva test, look at the scanning speed
-
yea I'm pretty sure the drive can only run up to ultra mode 2. I'm going to try upgrading to SP2 with it's fixes later this week when I have time. If that doesn't work I'll see about replacing the cable. I'll provide an update then, thanks for all your help.
I am sure the cable length has nothing to do with a laptop!
-
because they are also available in 24" and 36".
the specs for udma 5 are for 18"???? off top of my head?
"Here are the official length specifications:
total cable length: 10 - 18 inches
Length between controller and first drive: 5 - 12 inches
Length between drives: 5 - 6 inches "
-
you just need a tack hammer for a laptop
