  1. Well guys, you've convinced me, did some research and I'll probabley spring for the DW1655 as well. My Pioneer 108 is getting old so maybe its time for a fresh machine. I bought my Epson R200 printer after you guys reccommendations and its great. Will keep the Pioneer drive as a third drive.

    what's your other drive?

  2. Life(?),

you might use shrink to make another iso of a questionable

burn on poor media(cmcmag)/something that should have been

backed up to a verb, then the test will not waste another good blank

    That did it :)

Like Chewy was asking i have some Imation that are rated for 8x what do you say about selecting 12x for them?

where's that firmware upgrade? LUK can't fix everything!

If ImgBurn still burns 4x after the firmware upgrade when you specify 8x, then it might be a bug!

  4. Only if the drive doesn't follow MMC specs.

Try at 12x and see if it burns at 8x.

    thanks

I have suggested than, will have him try a firmware update, he's probably skeptical about the

crossflash, but he's already smoked anony's X2amd64/3800 bench times.

    smoked is slang for beaten

  6. The TYG02's I get from SVP work out about 40 pence a disc !! Mind you for that quality I am not complaining....

something's wrong in the global economy, is that .40 x 1.77= 71 cents?

I get 200 value disks shipped to the door for less than half that, or is there a 100% VAT?

  7. I am sure in the hundreds of pages of info on the DW1655 that I have read it claims that the drive optimises it write qualities as it goes. It continued with a piece on writing to media that it doesn't recognise from its firmware.....

If its true - that's clever :albert:

Pretty sure that the well document wopc feature, most sportsmen leave it off when after

    big game(the 99QS at 5' 30" burn full disk)

other burners have a lamer power calibration function

  8. When I get my hands on admin rights, what layers should I install? And would one logging as admin do the trick for all other times to use the device or not? There was someone today who logged in as admin and I had the drive connected, but it seemes it did not make any impact. Is SPTI working only as admin logs in?

See if a system adm can set rights for imgburn, doing a little extra work at work?

  9. I've had much better scans w/ TYG02's burned at 8X over 12 or 16X, doesn't matter if Plex716 or NEC3520, haven't tried the BenQ1655 yet. TYG03's burned at 16X don't scan as nice as TYG02's at 8X, but they're better than TYG02's at 16X, and there was some improvement the more I burned, learning firmware?

After rereading this, I would like to add, my TYG03 seems to be slightly better media than my TYG02,

but my TYG01 beat both of them at 8x, notice I used past tense, they are all gone! Of course this is just

a few percentage points in the upper 90's. After scanning 50-60 old disks this week, a 96 doesn't seem much different from a 98. When you scan a year old ritek G05, it puts it all in perspective. When the disk hits zero less than halfway thru the scan.

  10. learning firmware?

now that's a ghost I have been chasing for over 3 months

And what conclusion did you arrive at?

There's something to that theory(hypothesis), but every time I think I have caught the devil,

media inconsistency lets him go and the chase begins all over. That's why I call him a ghost.

I am gonna defintely scan all burns with all media when NEC releases new firmware for the 3550.

Or I get that other ghost, my Benq 1650.

  11. That way when i have burnt 100 TY's i have a counter to show 98% pass rate or whatever ?

Sounds like your expectations are a little low there B)

    what's 350/350 x 100 in percentage points ?

when I scan a TY it's for those museum piece 99+ burns
