you cannot go from 4x series to 2x series or vice versa that is for sure Anything you use would have to be in 2x range If lappy is not old see where you bought it from or email fujitsu and tell them it's not working with expensive good quality media.

who makes your laptop ? don't matter it's in your first post. goto their website and see if they have a firmware update for that drive, unlikely as 2.40 is further up than nec version 2.25 this your laptop LIFEBOOK C1320 there seem to be a few people having problems with the 2.40 firmware, I emailed fujitsu asking where the other firmware is for this drive, they may reply, they may not. Other people have used firmware 2.25 original firmware, search google on how to go to 2.25, liggy&dee

you can sort of if you insert blank into writer and switch to build mode pop cd you want to copy into reader and choose that drive letter and switch output to device. Depends on the type of data on Cd / multitrack etc

Your drive does not like that media. Hardly any drives like that particular media.

Poor Media

Only thing you can do is see what that drive is like with verbatim mcc discs or taiyo yuden You have the latest firmware but you are not alone with problems with this drive. Maybe replace drive or build a usb2 external drive with one of the newer Liteon writers. As well as that the ISO your trying to burn will be very close to the full capacity and extremely close to the edge of the poorest quality part of any media (outer edge) and may fail to write/read back etc after or during burn. Either shrink it a bit more by removing subs/ 2 channel audio or in shrinks options limit output to 4300 instead of 4464mb

the read me says 2.16 to 2.1b should be OK. polo she downloaded 2.18 on my rec to try from 2.16 to 2.18 b4 i knew you should be able to go from 2.16 to 2.1b, non seem to work so would assume OEM drive or someone selecting wrong drive from drop down box if there is one. Hard to say whats happening without sitting in front of their comp.

was that a laptop drive like. Seem to remember seeing that drive fail or someone else with similar woes may have been another make of drive you get so many rubbish ones.
