  1. I thought it was same as 7173a, anyways which firmware do you have in it ? Edit There is G: and Q version so Grain is right it will be the 7170 version you may be able to use Liggy&Dee's firmware to bit set DVD+R If your drive is anything like my Optiarc 7173a it will book type Dual layer + to DVD-Rom but for single layer + it will not which is why I flashed mine with a modified firmware to be able to book type DVD-5 > DVD-ROM There seems to be a firmware on their page which they have modded If I remember right as well Flash in safe mode and set drive to Pio Mode 4 b4 flashing [edit safe mode should def be used [pio mode is not absolutely needed but might be advisable] I just used Safe mode from memory. http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/en/Optiarc-AD-7170A/ If it were my drive i would choose this one http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/disclaimer/en/7170a/1s2_orig.zip.html EDIT DO NOT USE AS THE INFO AND FILES ABOVE ARE FOR Sony AW-G170 AND NOT Sony AW-Q170
  2. Works ok for me. This was build mode and image as output [edit] just also tried it in build mode and device as output and it works as it should by clicking calendar icon
  3. You need to buy verbatim discs. Datawrite discs are the cause of your problem or a faulty drive. If you buy verbatim disc's and it still does it chances are the drive is faulty.
  4. too late ! Stop Cross posting or the rest of my clairvoyant friends will stick a curse on you.
  5. It's down to the Media you are using. You can only use Verbatim dual layer disc's and try and get the 2.4x ones (they are the only ones that actually work with at least 99% success rate) And unless I am blind your pioneer writer seems to be running invisible firmware. Have you recently flashed your pioneer 111 you also choose an unsupported write rate
  6. Not sure exactly what you mean or rather which mode you used etc but I have just built a dvd movie from video_ts stored on my core2duo comp to this amd64 one with output as device pioneer 108 (amd64 comp) (on the fly writing etc) and all was well and took very little time. I had to try as I had only just updated it to latest then you posted and I thought that would be typical after telling someone to update to latest to find that Ahead had screwed up so I needed to check it still worked as they do F.O with their drivers and software before deleting the previous functioning version I had been using. When I say using I mean Ignoring until SPTI chucks out a Semaphore Timeout Error.
