  1. 1. I have TOSHIBA LAPTOP - ( Core 2 Duo (2.2Ghz) T7500 ) ( HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device )

Is the above DVD Writer good enough ?

A burner is a burner. That said, a lot of laptop drives really suck. Only one way to find out, huh?

    2. The ISO Images of Games vary from 2 GB to 7-8 GB files. But i have IMATION DVD+R 4.7 GB Discs so far with me.

Get rid of the Imation disks and spend a few dollars on Verbatim media. You'll be happy you did.

    3. Is DVD Decryter good enough for the above task, or I definately gotta download ImgBurn? (Both looks pretty same, dont know if they are from same people)

Lightning_UK is the author of both programs but DVD Decrypter died a sudden death almost 4 years ago. ImgBurn is alot more mature and has lots of other goodies as well.

    4. I bought copied games from my SHOP VENDOR from where i bought XBOX360, he charges me near $6 per game. He told me that You need special type of HARDWARE to BURN XBOX360 Games. And due to this FACT i bought several games from him already and wasted money if burning @ home is possible.

We don't discuss piracy here. Selling unlicensed copyrighted works makes your vendor the worst kind of parasite.

    5. Any other SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS to complete the above JOB of BURNING XBOX360 Games @ HOME SWEET HOME from my LAPTOP? HE HE !!!

No. Burning is burning. All burning software does basically the same thing. It tells the drive what to do and how to do it. It's up to the drive and your media to do the job properly.

  2. If a drive fails to produce a quality burn at its maximum speed, then one or more of the 3 items I listed above would be at the heart of the problem, wouldn't they? Also, if the burner has a problem burning above 8x (because of a slow HD or network, for example), BurnProof kicks in automatically to guarantee a good burn. Data burned at 4x is no different if it's burned at 12x. There's no point slowing the burn down if the hardware can cope with it.

  3. Should I have the VERIFY option checked on when burning with ImgBurn ?

And what is the best speed to burn 8x TY for the best quality ?

    Thanks

You don't NEED verify turned on but it's a good idea.

The speed of your burn has nothing to do with the quality of it. 10 years ago it did. These days it doesn't. Let your computer, your drive and your media work that out. They are what control the quality and speed of your burn, not ImgBurn. :)

  4. It's a 100 Mb home network that is not very busy at all. I access it through 54 Mb wireless but still. Something's amiss but I'm too lazy to figure out what. Could be an AV issue.

It could be an OS issue. Windows XP (Vista?) limits the amount of open sockets (connections) to 10. My laptop drove me nuts until I opened up a few more. You can use the hack below to increase the amount of open sockets. ***DO NOT*** go over 50. Use it at your own risk. Technically, it shouldn't make a difference but....

  5. The word "no" seems to be causing you some difficulty. Let me clarify the word for you, including its usage and its meaning.

    no:

    1. (a negative used to express dissent, denial, or refusal, as in response to a question or request)

    2. (used to emphasize or introduce a negative statement): Not a single person came to the party, no, not a one.

    3. not in any degree or manner; not at all (used with a comparative): He is no better.

    4. not a (used before an adjective to convey the opposite of the adjective's meaning): His recovery was no small miracle.

  6. hmm, thats interesting so i could set it up for each drive in the que feature, then walk away to let it do it one after the other (aslong as i load dvdrs in all drives)

Correct. The queue feature allows you to use a single image as your source and have it sent sequentially to multiple drives. There should be a guide on how to do this in the GUIDES area.

  7. Is Vista REALLY that bad?! I can't believe they'd have made it into the initial release let alone SP1.

I bought a new laptop a few months back that came with vista pre-installed. When it denied me access to manually delete cookies I formatted the drive, threw the vista CD into the bin and then installed XP. Vista lasted about an hour before I'd had enough of it. Yes. It's that bad.

  8. Obsolete scientific theories

Shows how we used to perceive the world & universe around us in the light of our understanding at the time and its interesting to see how minds work and theorise. Its not enough to have a belief, it has to be put to the test - something people seem so reluctant to do.

    Fascinating stuff...

I denounce your heretic theories. Everyone knows that the Earth is flat and I won't be told otherwise. So there. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find jesus. I think I'll look in the prisons first. Everyone else seems to find him there.

  9. hmmm... upon further inspection, it seems the first and fourth burn actually is OK, only verification went bonkers. Seems, 2nd and 3rd burn coasted, though the system finds the disc empty and rdy to be burned as new discs. So, ImgBurn really behaving weird here....

    Any suggestions to why?

I REALLY love ImgBurn, but the instability (at least for me!) makes me not wanting to keep using the app for backups anymore! Really, thats a shame...

This software (or any other software) has no control over the quality of your burn. Bad burns are ALWAYS the fault of the hardware. Imgburn tells your drive what to do. From then it's up to your drive, your firmware and your media to do the job properly. Slow the burn down to 8x and see what happens.

  10. But one problem I cannot resolve - can I burn more than one file on a single disc if there is space, if so how. My PC came with Nero and I have been happily burning multiple files created on PC onto single discs because Nero recognises spare space. IMG won't do this for me. Experience tells me that it is my lack of understanding not an IMG problem - HELP please

Imgburn will happily burn multiple files onto disk using the BUILD MODE. You can find Cornys' guide here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1779

Be aware that Ner0 has some functions unavailable to ImgBurn. Ner0 uses some trickery to allow you to burn a few files and then come back later and burn some more. (The facility that allows this is called InCD and it causes havoc with ImgBurn). ImgBurn will burn only ONCE to your CD/DVD. The good news is that ImgBurn has a calculator function which allows you to see how much space you have available when adding files. If you need help with this or any other Imgburn function, ask. That's why we're here. :)

  11. Welcome. :)

    Hey there,

I am pretty new to the concept of image burning etc. I am wondering if I can use ImgBurn to backup my recovery partition to an image file on more than one blank DVD?

This is beyond the scope of ImgBurn. 2 other options come to mind though.

. A dedicated and expensive backup program such as "Ghost".

. Backing your critical files up to a second, third or forth harddrive using free software. (My personal choice)

Another option comes to mind and that is to install your system to a mirrored RAID drive. Most motherboards support doing this these days. Your operatiing system is essentially installed to 2 identical drives at the same time (hence the term "mirrored"). If one fails, the other takes over. You then replace the faulty drive with a new one and your 2nd drive is backed up automagically (mirrored) to the new drive.

FWIW, I don't bother with any of this type of nonsense. I keep backups of the files (and drivers) I need and don't worry about the rest.

  12. No problems here either.
