is there a real downside to not zeroing the discs ?

I was wondering if there was a possibility of adding a semi full format. As in inbetween format with zeroing sectors and quick format. I'm just curious to if it is absolutely necessairy for a new BD-RE to get zeroed ontop of a full format. Isn't the full format (without spare areas ofc) enough?

It doesnt matter what my speed is or how much bandwidth i can use per month. The point is that nobody wants to download stuff they don't want/need. No matter how big/small. And you doubt wrong. 124kb x 10.000= 1.240.000 KB / 1024/1024= 1.24 GB extra bandwidth consumed per month on the allotted monthly traffic assigned to the imgburn site. And that is just for 10.000 download. Multiply that by 10 and your looking at 12.4gb extra. Size does matter. We won't notice much difference no, but the traffic the site uses, and his domain registrar will.

No offence but personally i find it 'bad' enough already that it offers to include Google chrome? And that it is enabled to install by default. But atleast you can disable that.

Please don't. So you want to force thousands if not tens of thousands of people who dont use that piece of software to donwload stuff they don't want / need. And by doing so increase the size of the download and increase the amount of bandwidth the imgburn site will need to cope with that inceease in traffic and fiscal shutting down the sire due to overuse of allotted bandwidth. Hell no.

Oh i can wait. I'd rather have a fully functional piece of software than one released too soon that is riddled with bugs. Only thing i "want / need" is that folder batch.<br /><br />It'll be ready when its ready.

Correct. Booktype can only be set on +r discs. That is one of the advantages +r media has over -r. Booktyping

And i already said i know its not present in the program. That's why I'm asking for it. The code already is partially in the program, it just needs to be adapted a little to support folders. I have good reasons not to use the cxd burn engine. Not for isos and not to burn to blanks. - the (ISO) burn engine locks up the system when burning. Preventing use of the pc till the burning is complete. This does not happen with folders. - i always output to folders. Have done so for years and will continue to do so. To use the imgburn queue option would require then making iso's of those folders resulting in double content on the drive - i do alot of converting on a daily basis. Last time i checked imgburn doesn't support batch creating of isos either - writing batch files is beyond me, for reasons already stated. As said the batch code is already in the program. It just needs to be adapted a little.

would it be hard to implement? i do alot of video encoding with amongst others convertxtodvd and I rather use imgburns burn engine than the built in one. another thing that might fit in well with that, is being able to batch "burn" folders into ISO images with imgburn.<br /><br />I'd very much like to see this realised and would be happy to help test.<br />

Either i'm blind or this thing doesn't exists. IMGBurn has the option for a burn queue list but only for existing images. I need this for FOLDERS, pretty much "gutted" the program looking at every page of every option and every mode from the selecter. I can't find it. The guide http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=930 seems too outdated for the current version and also only applies to ISO's, not folder structure. I've got quite alot of folders to burn to disc but i can't use my multi-drive setup. Cause if i try well, the famous IMGBurn "waiting for drive activity to reach 0" message that pisses me (and probably alot of others too) off quite alot. So i'd just like to be able to burn folders in queue mode and be able to tell it which drive i want it burnt too Eg: 6 folder burn F1 => E:\ (optical drive 1) F2 => F:\ (optical drive 2) F3 => G:\ (optical drive 3) F4 => E:\ (optical drive 1) F5 => F:\ (optical drive 2) F6 => G:\ (optical drive 3) so am i blind or is that feature not present for folders. I do quite alot of video converting to DVD and this would be a timesaver not to have to pop back to the computer every 5 min to check if the burn has finished. That way i could atleast do 3 burns semi-automatic and atleast only have to get back every 15-20minutes

My first use for IMGBurn is to burn video dvd's and iso. Now i want to use it to burn data cd/dvd/blu-rays too so i can completely remove nero from my system. I just have no idea wich settings to use What data type to i use for data CD-R > mode 1? mode 2 >> file system > ISO, joliet, iso + joliet (+udf) >> in case of UDF what revision? data dvd+r > same questions cd's & dvd must be able to be read by a standard blu-ray (dvd) player (as a partial use for this will be firmware updates for a non internet hooked up player), and windows. I've checked the guides subforum but i can't find anywere where it clearly states what to use. I'd really love an answer so i can uninstall that bloatware nero from my rig.

Well i'll guess this is solved for now then. I'll report back when i backup a new disc and the backup exceends the 22.5GB mark. We'll see what IMGBurn has to say when i try to burn it to the RE. I visit my video store weekly on friday, they know to expect me for new releases . With some luck i'll be able to report back during or after the weekend. Thx for the support/explanation so far

I did that math myself too. I just don't understand why the BD-R shows up with 23.3GB and the BD-RE as 22,5. If the amount of sectors is the same then the BD-RE should also show in explorer as having a disc capacity of 23.3GB. I check when IMGB was done with formatting and before the ISO burn began and it showed as 22.5GB effective capacity. Is there a setting in IMGB i can change (reformat) to change the BD-RE available disc size to 23.3GB? That 800MB difference has to go somewhere

If it's formatted to the maximum capacity, then why do BD-R SL's do have 23.3GB to be used. Or is that one of the many small differences between the 2 subsections of the BD recordable standard

I hope this is the correct section. I've just bought me a brand new BD-RE SL and popped it into my BH10LS20 for burning. From what i know a standard disc holds 23.3 GB. However with the default? settings IMGBurn used windows explorer shows the maximum capacity of 22.5GB. That's roughly 800MB undersized and enough to render the disc unuseable for some iso's made by BD-Rebuilder that slightly superseed that 22.5GB mark. Since it was brand new it came empty and unformatted. Below is the IMGBurn log & discs specs. Disc was formatted & immediately followed by an iso burn to disc. Speed also is something weird, according to the disc properties 10.338kb/sec is 2.4x. However the disc gets burnt at 10.512 KB/s wich is 2.3x? Not from scratch but not a little update either. When i loaded the lang file in DKtranslater i got a notification that about 2 dozen new strings were added, and 2 redundant ones removed. So go figure how long it was since an update. Translated all the new ones. I'm fine with removing the name from the site all together, afterall it is your site. Just that this isnt the only program i'm translating for. It's me behind the dutch side of AnyDVD & a few others too

I've created a new translation based on the netherlands one (basically the same) but i can't get imgburn to find it. I also get this error about combobox items when using the netherlands file. How do i fix this? ** edit ** Nevermind i found the missing strings by comparing the source file & the ones listed in the lng. Seems like the BD-RE TL & QL list items were missing. Attached is the updated version for IMGB 2.5.6.0 BTW it might be prudent to change the language from Dutch(Netherlands) to Dutch(Belgium/Netherlands) since we both speak the same language. I also possibly found out why the initial file couldnt be found. I picked the output language as 02.... Dutch belgium while according to the guide it should be in the 01... tree. However i picked 02... since i couldnt find it in 01... Once i picked the Dutch (Netherlands) again was found I guess a change to the translation credits are in order? dutch_netherlands.lng
