  1. It just seems to me there is an increasing number of threads of "I can't copy (insert name of game or DVD) with ImgBurn".

Agreed...just look at the ones that were posted within the last 24 hours. And I'm really starting to love the ones with..."but I used (crappy) media for the last X burns and it worked fine...it can't be my media...yadda yadda yadda...Just one question then:

Why come here and ask if you're not willing to admit that you screwed up and need to do something different that what you are doing?????

FFS..we test more media than a porn shop and can't get a simple "thanks. I'll try that suggestion and let you know what happens"

  2. I 17:19:46 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: CMC MAG. AM3) (Speeds: 4x; 8x; 12x; 16x)

It doesn't matter that you used this crap before and it worked. Try following the guidance given to you by mmalves about speeds and changing media without defending what you are doing now since it isn't working anymore. Crap media does tend to fail <_<

  3. Maybe we need a warning on installation that ImgBurn does not do this and is primarily a burning program.

Then we'll get requests to turn off the warning by someone who becomes annoyed by it...but cannot figure out how to use the search function......=))=))=))

  4. Do other companies use CMC to make their discs too?

You can't believe the companies that use CMC to make discs for their name brand. CMC is...by far...the biggest problem manufacturer that we see in the DVD marketplace >_<

  5. I think ive been hosed

If you used a credit card, and if they will not honor a request for refund for your purchase, dispute the billing when you get it from your card issuer.

  6. First of all, when posting, please post a log of the burn in question since it answers a lot of questions that we may have.

Secondly, your drive will only burn at the speeds that it "reads" off of the media MID. Choosing a speed that does not exist will not work as the drive will choose the closest one to what your input is.

  7. AJ;

The success of your burn, once burned and verified, is entirely up to the disc. We recommend either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus made in Singapore because their dye is the best and the data stored there upon is also the safest. No one can guarantee that your data will last for 20 years because, among other factors, there is no guarantee that the optical drives in use now will even be around in 20 years to read the disc.

As far as poor vs. good burners, with the cost of all of them being dirt cheap, invest the extra few $ and buy the best you can. They will last the longest and return your investment back to you in the form of less garbage created and less headaches all around.

Your chouice of media, although not good if really TDK, is made using CMC dye and, as such, are really crap. Get yourself some Taiyo Yuden discs and see if your chances of a successful burn do not increase immensely.

  9. Checked out the clowns at softonic... <_<

Seems you can download IB for $2.99 from their 'guaranteed' pest free server or link out to an external mirror that is free but 'allows' you to use their toolbar plugin with your browser...:frustrated:

What a way to get screwed by a leech company.
