Chimiko Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) Hello, Im trying to burn some xbox 360 games. i just have one small issue, imgburner dosent allow me to change the booktype. I've been trying to find some version of my drive firmware that works but nothing seam to be working. So when i go: Change Book type >> Samsung I just get "Unknown (No way to query current setting!) When i try to change it into DVD-ROM it just says "Success!" but it really dosent change anything. Here is the log aswell. I 21:24:34 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! Also, you do know that the booktype is only written to the disc when you actually burn it, right? By the way, you can find the latest firmware for your burner here (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished). And while you're at it, also have a look here

Yeah, i heard but when i actually do burn the cd it dosent work in the xbox. i've tried some other games that my friend had and they work just fine in the box so its something with my burning. And i supspect its the booktype. The laybreak is fine. I know its possible to burn the games cause i've done it before but it was AGES ago so now i really have no clue how i did it. But the only thing i havent been able to change is the booktype so my guess is that it dosent change it too DVD-ROM like i want it too.. Is there someway to change it even tho its supposed to "automaticlly" change it? mmalves Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Post the log of one of those burns that doesn't work (you can find the log in ImgBurn's Help menu). As for booktyping manually it's exactly the way you were doing (remember it said success).

Slower isn't necessarily better and that's apparently what your drive manufacturer thinks too, these are your options for those Verbatim DL blanks... mmalves Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Why are you using SB06 firmware when there's SB07 available? Since you didn't verify your burn we don't know if it was a good burn or not. You could also try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc.

Power calibration errors are your drives way of bitching about stuff to do with the media. So just clean the lense and hopefully it won't bitch quite so much.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Typically you'd use a cleaning disc - you buy them in electronics stores. If you want to go the manual route then that's your call. Open the drive and use a cotton bud (carefully!) on the lense. You'll still want the cleaning fluid on the bud though but you can probably use Alcohol or something similar. Google might be able to help you out with a guide or something.

The only thing my xbox is saying when i put in the DVD's i burn (the new ones) is "Open Tray" Do i really have to crack open my xbox and clean the lens?
