I have read the guides and FAQ a few times, but am having troubles with the layer break ( I know you are suppose to select this option SPLIP is NO) however I am only given one file, there are not several to choose from.

I can burn the image to that one file successfully but then when I want to write, on a single layer DVD, there is not enough room and I get the warning message.

I assume it has to do with how I am adding the DVD project, but every time there is only one file and the only way around is to choose the ignore layer break option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

You should NEVER ignore the layerbreak positions - unless you know exactly what you're doing and have a VERY good reason for it.

If you only have 1 option, select it. It doesn't get much simpler!

That is what I have done, and I can build the iso successfully. My problem is I am writing onto a single layer dvd so when it comes time to write, I get the obvious error screen saying there in not enough room, do you want to write it anyway?

How to I divide it onto two DVD's at that point or in my option to go buy dual layer verbatims?

Can it be compressed onto one single layer?

Thanks for the quick response.

My only option was this one, I was not sure if you thought I only had one option of No to choose from and the SPLIP is yes, choose this option anyways?

I am clueless but will pick this up quickly.

TIA

Random, Yes, you will either have to buy DL discs to achieve your goals or compress the image so it will fit on a SL disc, a subject which we cannot get into on this forum I'm afraid. A search will help you I'm sure. :)

An entry where SPLIP = No is just the most obvious choice for a layerbreak position as normally the original one will be configured like that. It is by no means vital.

The program will automatically mark a cell as SPLIP = No when you select it if it's originally set to 'Yes'.

Thanks Lightening UK,

I am curious about one thing. Is it ok since SPLIP converts the cell to No to go ahead and write the cd on two DVD+r's?

Yesterday I did pick up a little something per kevdriver's post. It took forever for me to get this to SHRINK the .ISO but It finally did so after a few hours and several tries later(the actual shrinking part went quickly, the back-up feature crashed a lot) , it then encoded, about 30 minutes to do so, then writes 28 minutes to do that but when it finally got to minute 27, the burn failed and viola, I have a new coaster.

I suppose I can always go out and buy dual layers, it is just that I have 100 pluss DVD+R's

If you want to split, use VobBlanker. Guide on site.

It is not at all right to simply burn half the material to one DVD and the other half to another.

Either follow the link given by blu above or else use Google to search for the information you require on shrinking DVDs to fit a single layer dvd.

what are you using for media ?

having the burn fail at the last minute suggests poor quality discs

can you post a log of the burn or at least the info window for the media

I am going to start a new thread that addresses this better, it can be merged if thought to be appropriate.

Thanks
