Galane Posted Tuesday at 02:35 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:35 AM Is it a problem with the cue file? I burned the files with another program without using the cue file and it made a working disc, but without the CD text info. ImgBurn.log Ultra-Lounge Vol. 02 - Mambo Fever.cue
dbminter Posted Tuesday at 03:17 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:17 AM It's probably what I suspected before even opening the log. This goes a bit toward explaining it: I 19:54:52 Source Media Type: CD-R (Disc ID: 97m26s66f, CMC Magnetics Corp.) but it does not as readily explain why the Sony disc also failed. However, I have a feeling it's related. CMC Magnetics Corporation makes the absolutely worst discs out there. They are utter trash. You most likely bought the Verbatim Life Series CD-R from a brick and mortar store. The Life Series are junk. Now, Sony isn't as easily dismissed, but, over the past 23 years, Sony has also made little but junk. So, I'd be willing to wager their CD-R are just as much garbage as their BD-R's are. First thing I'd concentrate on is not using the trash media. Get yourself some Verbatim DataLife Plus (NOT the Life Series.) or AZO CD-R. Mitsubishi makes those. Those and Taiyo Yuden were the best out there for decades. Don't know about the state of TY's anymore after CMC Magnetics bought them. CMC Pro DVD-R media is still quality TY discs, though, last I used them.
Galane Posted Tuesday at 09:58 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 09:58 AM (edited) I just burned a dozen more audio discs to discs off that same spindle. ZERO problems. Here's a new log where I tried using that cue file to a CD-RW. SAME problem as I got with it before three times in a row. I used a fresh out of the package, never used before CD-RW, so it's not a 'worn out' rewriteable. How about actually having a look at the cue instead of just dissing and dismissing it as a problem with the brands of media? I took a close look at the CD-Rs and the CD-RW. Using this cue, imgburn is leaving a visible gap in the middle of the recorded area. That isn't there on the CD-R I burned with the files, without using the cue. dbminter Posted Tuesday at 11:52 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:52 AM How about I don't supply any more help? I, at least, offered an opinion. Doesn't mean it's right.
Dawn_fan Posted Tuesday at 03:23 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:23 PM I find it suspicious that your error occurs around the same spot for BOTH discs. You burn 18 tracks and on the 18th track, you encounter the read error. This is present for the CMC disc burn in your first post and the Infodisc CD-RW used in your post afterwards. Since this is a pattern with two different types of discs, I feel like it could even be your drive. There are many factors involved here so it may sometimes be difficult to diagnose. I would recommend trying a different drive and seeing if it gets better or trying a slower burn speed. Also Mr. Minter still has a valid point and is only trying to help, most of the problems faced across this forum is due to faulty media, especially media manufactured by CMC Magnetics Corp. MOST of the time, switching to a different brand, like the Data Life Plus Discs Mr. Minter mentioned previously, tend to fix the issues as drives are more compatible with those discs.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM It doesn’t make any sense that it would be running into that error. It’s trying to read beyond what it’s just written.
Galane Posted Wednesday at 10:25 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:25 AM Different drive, different discs. 100% of the time IMGburn fails but only when using this cue file to burn the files with it. If I just throw the files at it, they burn and verify fine but I don't get the CD TEXT. I tried it with Nero Burning ROM but it said there's an error in line 17 REM GENRE Lounge REM DATE 1996 REM DISCID 030A9212 REM COMMENT "ExactAudioCopy v0.99pb4" PERFORMER "" TITLE "Ultra-Lounge Vol. 02 - Mambo Fever" FILE "01 - Don Swan & His Orchestra - Hooray for Hollywood (Cha-Cha).flac" WAVE TRACK 01 AUDIO TITLE "Don Swan & His Orchestra - Hooray for Hollywood (Cha-Cha)" PERFORMER "" INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO TITLE "Jackie Davis - Manana (Is Soon Enough for Me)" PERFORMER "" INDEX 00 02:33:70 FILE "02 - Jackie Davis - Manana (Is Soon Enough for Me).flac" WAVE INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 03 AUDIO That's the INDEX 01 00:00:00 which is there for every track. Nero rejects all the cue files for that same reason. So I deleted all the INDEX 01 00:00:00 lines and Nero accepted the file and burnt the disc, and verified it. No blank looking stripe in the middle *but* also no CD TEXT info on it. So I tried the edited cue with IMGburn and it starts to burn then E 04:23:57 Failed to send Cue Sheet! LIGHTNING UK! Posted Wednesday at 10:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:13 PM You need index 01, that’s the actual playable track. what you’ve got there is a cue whereby the track oregap is at the end of the file for the previous track. I honestly couldn’t tell you if I’d have ever tested such a cue. Delete the index 00 stuff and it might work.
Galane Posted Thursday at 03:42 AM Author Posted Thursday at 03:42 AM I deleted those zero index lines and Nero was able to use it to burn it, and it put CD Text information on the disc. Titles appear in PotPlayer when playing the disc. I used the latest Exact Audio Copy to create a new cue. It took two tries for it to get it right. The first one it made, when I tried using it with IMGburn, wanted to try putting 4+ gig onto a CD. But I also had to manually add the album and track names into the CUE because EAC doesn't read the CD text when making a CUE file. I haven't found anything that does that. Notice the inconsistency in the cue listing? FILE TRACK TITLE PERFORMER INDEX Then for the second track it's TRACK TITLE PERFORMER INDEX FILE Subsequent tracks have the order of the first one. But in the first EAC generated CUE it used that odd order for the third track. The second try has all tracks like the first. I still need to edit in the FLAC filenames and track names. So call this a feature request for IMGburn, the ability to create a CUE file from a pressed or burned audio disc and use the CD TEXT info if present on the disc so the data gets put into the CUE file.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted Thursday at 06:29 AM Posted Thursday at 06:29 AM Read mode would have already done that if cdtext was present on the original disc.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted Thursday at 09:31 PM Posted Thursday at 09:31 PM I had no issue burning and verifying the image you provided. I can only assume the problem is coming from the directshow filter your system is using for flac decoding. Maybe it's making the flac files (once decoded) look smaller than mine is and then the pregap at the end of the file (index 00) is in invalid space and it's messing the whole thing up.
