therock003 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 How trustworth is the verification process? Before imgburn i used to burn with nero and then perform a crc check with vice versa pro.IS the verification option of imgburn as good as a crc chheck?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 It's sector by sector, byte by byte. It doesn't get any better!
chewy Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I had a disk a while back that would pass verification but I noticed glitches in viewing on an older dvd player A quality scan revealed some issues with disk The data was intact and could be recovered with a good slow reader
therock003 Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 So how are we gonna be sure that the we get quality burns? Cause i burn sensitive data, and after that i delete them form hard drive to free up space.
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Your hardware and media determine how long it's going to be before it fails. If the burned file or files pass verification against the source, there's not much more you can ask of the software.
kevdriver Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 therock 003, Just to add to Mr Shamus's post, If used correctly and with good media, Verbatim, then Img always gives consistant high quality burns. Verifying will 99.99999% of the time pick up any errors between the original image on your HD and the burn't final product.
therock003 Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 Now that i've dropped nero and use imgbrn i find errors most frequently, dunno why.I have a nec burner, and i use taiyo yuden as dvd+R media (the blue onews) which are the best. And like 1/10 get a sector failed error.
lfcrule1972 Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 For sensitive data I would use nothing other than Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims
dontasciime Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 so it's not just me then I PMed him about it as I suspected I was getting packet loss. Seems Zen hosting is hosed.

Hey Shamus I really like your avitar , my wife was unimpressed, but then she lacks a sense of humor with certain topics Cheers, Cuber
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I used to post a picture here every time someone mentioned a mouse. Corny took it and made the avatar for me. Glad you like it.
lfcrule1972 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 We also mention Tweety Pie Waterwings a lot but he never posts that pic anymore !!
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 We also mention Tweety Pie Waterwings a lot but he never posts that pic anymore !! I can see what would happen if I posted it. Within a day or two I'd see a link on fark.com with the heading "Photoshop this idiot in a pool"
Imperialism Rocks Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 you people with concerns about data integrity should burn PAR2 volumes on your discs.. or on an additional disk!!
