rolex Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) I bought a spindle of SONY08d1 and got this message (topic). I tried at 8x and failed twice - the first time with acctual burning the second was just a test. Edited January 6, 2006 by rolex
polopony Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) try different media the Pioneer doesn't seem to like this stuff, it's matter of finding the right combination for you and your computer.I use NEC drives and Verbatim (mcc dye ) and Taiyo Yuder discs without any failures. Both of these discs are top of the line ,make sure that the Verbs use the MCC dye some are now being made with CMC MAG dye the source of many problems BY the way make sure that the blanks are clean and didn't pick up dirt Edited January 6, 2006 by polopony
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 The initial error is the real one. In your case, that's a 'Write Error' - nothing more descriptive! The drive is having trouble writing to the media - so as polopony says, try some different (better) discs.
zacoz Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 (edited) @rolex: I have the same drive as you and find that Verbatim disc's work great. They really don't work out any more expensive either, as you won't be ditching any from bad burns. Edited January 8, 2006 by zacoz
grampaw Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Could you use DVDInfoPro's Advanced Commands to see if a particular media's ID code (gotten from ImgBurn) is on the DVD writer's FW "approved" list? Is this possible and has anybody tried it?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Not in DVDInfoPro, no. But there might be some sort of firmware mediacode editor over at cdfreaks. I know there are some for the other makes of drives.
