jmet
The 3520 is in my closet. It was in my second PC but, that PC blew up. So I took out everything that was salvageable and chunked the rest in the trash. I'll try to roll back the drivers chewy.

jmet
I watched it today while I was burning. It gets to 4.1X by 4%. From there it reaches 6.2X at %35, then goes back down to 4.1X around %40 and stays there until it is finished. Even though I selected 8X speed. chewy
time for a clean install, load windows xp sp2 and then go into device manager and only deal with yellow exclaimation marks That's what I did! there is one other option, disconnect the slave and reflash as standalone master in safe mode try option 2 first, it's easier! LIGHTNING UK!
Maybe WOPC is kicking it back down? I guess that would mean the firmware isn't so good for doing 8x burns on that media - or rather 6x if that's were it's dropping back down. Look at the write speed graph via dvdinfopro. You can even post it up here so we can take a look too

I just wondered if your results are more consistent with the stock NEC firmware ? Yea it is.........I get all my NEC firmware from here: http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/ (I re-installed the same firmware again, and I installed the NEC 3520 in this PC. I will try later on testing them. Right now I am installing all the software for my PC, as I just got done reformatting.) LIGHTNING UK!
Looking at that graph, I'd have to guess the 2GB mark is where it would have stepped back down to 4x again (from 6x). There is more WOPC activity there. If / when it steps back again, repost the graph
jmet
Thanks for the reply LUK! Excuse my ignorance here but, what is "WOPC"? It is how we learn after all.
LIGHTNING UK!
Walking optimal power calibration - something like that anyway - depends on where you read it! It just basically means the drive checks the burn quality as it writes - and if found to be substandard, it'll reduce the burn speed.

jmet
This computer intially had 1 stick of Corsair 512MB of RAM. I bought another stick of that same RAM for my second PC (which I no longer have). I ended up giving that stick to my mother cause she only had a 128MB stick in her Dell. My brothers Compaq PC crashed on him so I robbed a 512MB stick from it. I then put the 512MB Compaq and the Dell 128MB stick along with my Corsiar 512MB stick. I learned the hard way not to mix RAM. It won't happen again. lol Edited February 8, 2006 by jmet
